🥳#HappyBirthday #MPE! 🎂 Today, our institute turns 6⃣0⃣! Founded on May 15 1963 by Reimar Lüst, MPE since then is renowned for cutting-edge research, built satellites and telescopes and received numerous awards – culminating in the #NobelPrize for Physics for our director Reinhard Genzel in 2020! Over the next weeks, we will show some milestones and share anecdotes of #60yearsMPE. So stay tuned, send us greetings and celebrate with us! #MPE60 🤗

Info

Inter-Institute Sports week review: In the week of April 29th to 3rd of May, students and postdocs on the Garching campus from MPE, MPA, ESO, USM and IPP gathered for the first ever Inter-Institute Sports Week. This included several simultaneous sports events taking place, including basketball, volleyball, sprints/running, football, chess, tennis, capture the flag, spikeball, ping pong, beer pong and foosball. More than 120 people, split into three teams, took part, and competed for points throughout the week. After the first day, all three teams were very close in the scoring, with Team C coming out on top. However, after Day 2, Team A edged slightly forward, with Team B closely behind. Team A managed to secure the lead in the later days, and came out victorious at the end, bringing home the Sports Week Trophy. More info about the scoring at: https://lnkd.in/dQcgFBTW We were very lucky to have incredible summer weather during the outdoor sporting events, which contributed to the great atmosphere and many laughs we had during the week. Overall, it was a great success not just in terms of the sporting achievements, but also for making new friends, trying something different and getting some movement into our lives! We hope to make this a tradition, involving even more institutes and sports, so stay tuned and see you next year!
