Guest questions are an established part of our report. This time, we had the pleasure of featuring Anke Arens, Sol Wilkinson, Valeria Alesiani, and André Koegler. As a journalist at Hello Partner, Sol explored the impact of Google updates on the industry for next year. His question: “Heading into 2025, will Google continue to be a priority in your strategy?” Despite the challenges, Google remains a strategic priority for the industry: According to the survey, 61.1% of respondents indicated that Google's importance will remain the same, 25.0% believe it will be more important than in previous years, while only 13.9% think that Google will be less of a priority in their strategies. Individual responses revealed that coupon #publishers will be particularly affected by Google updates. One of the main challenges identified by industry experts was the loss of trust among consumers and advertisers, highlighting the critical need for #transparency. Anke Arens pushed the conversation further. As Director of Cooperation at CJ, she asked: “As different approaches to transparency get implemented, how important is transparency to your business?” The responses were unequivocal: Transparency is non-negotiable. While industry experts are optimistic for the second half of 2024, they’re well aware of the challenges. What keeps them on their toes? 🤔 True, the current economic situation is tricky. But: The latest version of our Commerce Advertising report shows optimism is at a record level. Over 75% of survey participants have positive expectations for the coming months. When it comes to trends and challenges, two subjects dominate Google updates and AI – both game-changers in their own way. AI, the multi-tool, is considered a growth driver across the entire value chain. In the survey, it is particularly seen as having high potential in targeting and personalization (30.5%), closely followed by content creation (27.8%) and content with personalized product recommendations (25%). In addition to Google updates and AI, there are four areas of challenges according to respondents: 👉 Loss of trust among consumers and advertisers and the consequent need for transparency 👉 Increased requirements for data privacy and data protection-compliant advertising 👉 Tracking and attribution 👉 General economic conditions and associated budget cuts How are companies adapting to technological change?
