🏙️ Sustainable path construction with tree protection 🌳 Cities are growing and changing - and so are the challenges for urban planning. In order to find a balance between urban development and environmental protection, innovative solutions are being researched for pavements and park areas that protect tree roots in heavily frequented areas and stabilise the soil at the same time. Thanks to their cellular structure, geocells distribute the load evenly and prevent soil compaction that could damage tree roots. Markermeerdijken NL Great images showing update work at module 15 Uitdammerdijk as part of the levee reinforcement Markermeerdijken. The Alliance Markermeerdijken is a collaboration between the Hoogheemraadschap Hollands Noorderkwartier, Boskalis Nederland and VolkerWessels companies KWS Infra and Van Hattum en Blankevoort.   Nonwoven geotextiles will be installed on the embankments of the levee as a high-performance filter under the stone revetment. In this application, the robustness of the nonwovens is of great importance, as is the technical and functional life span. By applying the nonwovens, a filter construction can be built efficiently. This saves construction time, earth movement and the supply of rock. The filter layer saves CO2 emissions compared to construction with a fully granular filter. Thus, this solution contributes to a sustainable and smart implementation method for hydraulic engineering projects.    The reinforcement of the Markermeer levee is being carried out over a length of about 33 kilometres. The Markermeer levee are a primary flood defence system and these North Holland levees protect 1.2 million people from the outside water. Great project to be involved with! Naue Group supplied the Geogrid reinforcement for the embankment and also the HDPE and Geotextiles for the diversion of the watercourse ensuring the reservoir’s future resilience!

🌬️ Base course reinforcement at offshore wind farm Naue Combigrid® geocomposite was utilized in the Moray West Offshore Wind Farm, UK, to facilitate onshore works for electrical cable installation. This 60-turbine wind farm spans 225 km² and contributes 882 MW of green energy, enough to power 1.3 million homes. ⚡ The project involved addressing challenging construction requirements for two underground cable circuits from Sandend Bay to the new Whitehillock substation. Combigrid® was selected to manage issues such as variable soil bearing capacity and peat deposits, providing a robust and sustainable base course reinforcement. Naue Combigrid® offered strength, stability, and environmental compliance, while its ease of installation helped saving time and materials, contributing significantly to the project’s success.
