Join the two invited talks from our Neurotec project: Regina Dittmann will talk about „Memristive valence change memory crossbar arrays for neuromorphic computing“ on Wednesday and Emre Neftci about „Neuromorphic principles and synaptic plasticity for self-attention hardware“ on Thursday.

Memory Boost for #AI It was long considered impossible: A new type of #memristor - electronic components that consume very little power and behave similarly to brain cells - now combines the advantages of the two previously known types of #memristors. It is based on a novel switching mechanism discovered by researchers from Peter Grünberg Institut (PGI), led by Ilia Valov, in collaboration with partners in Germany and China. This mechanism makes memristors more robust and significantly extends their lifespan. In addition, the new type operates across a wider voltage range and can function in both analog and digital modes. Thanks to these properties, it could help solve one of the key challenges in #ArtificialIntelligence: “𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗵𝗶𝗰 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴,” where artificial neural networks abruptly lose previously learned information.
