And of course, our Head of the Economic Department, Linda Mieden-Appelboom also took part. This year’s theme was ‘Prosperous and resilient: the Netherlands as a trading country in a changing world’. The sessions and workshops – were partly organised in cooperation with Ministries EZ and LVVN – and focused on topical issues such as #AI, #energy diplomacy, #circularity, and the #defence industry. It was a week full of new insights and inspiration and everyone can now go back to work with new energy! #NlinGermany

Happy retirement Marc Verbiest! Last week was the last working day of Marc Verbiest, Area Director of NFIA-Germany. As of November 1, he is well-deservedly retired. From our post, the Consulate General in Munich, Marc worked for the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) in Germany since 2021. At first, he did the German acquisition work for the NFIA alone, from August 2023 together with project manager Frank Eijkenboom. Marc had the ideal background to work for the NFIA as Area Director. For decades he worked for Siemens, operating on several continents, including Asia, Europe, North and Latin America. Furthermore, before joining NFIA, Marc worked for four years for the Province of North Brabant in southern Germany. And also then he worked from the Consulate General. Last week, colleagues from Consulate General in Munich and the NFIA said goodbye to Marc. We wish him an enjoyable & healthy retirement! #InvestInHolland #NLinGermany

𝗘𝘅𝗰𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗛𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 (𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹!) The Federal Network Agency approved the hydrogen core network. This is the start to construct the infrastructure for a nationwide distribution of #hydrogen, announced by the Federal Minister of Economic Affairs, Robert Habeck. Pipelines with a total length of more than 9,000 kilometers are to be built by 2032. Existing gas pipelines would be converted to hydrogen for 60 percent of this. Nevertheless, the supply of natural gas will remain guaranteed, therefore, the construction of additional natural gas pipelines is planned. The first sections of the core grid could be completed as early as next year, announced Economics Minister Habeck. The project is a “central building block” of the energy transition. The transport of hydrogen within Germany, the core network, also enables the import of hydrogen through the connection to the pipelines of the neighboring countries. So good news for the Netherlands as well! The Delta-Rhein-Corridor, pipelines that run from Rotterdam via Moerdijk to Chemelot in Geleen and continue to the German border at Venlo, is an important project to connect the pipelines of Germany and the Netherlands. Speaking of cooperation between the Netherlands and Germany, we at the Consulate General in Munich are very proud of the visit of the hydrogen delegation led by Bavarian Minister of Economics, Regional Development and Energy Hubert Aiwanger to the Netherlands in November. This visit will be an important step in strengthening the ties between the Netherlands and Bavaria. We will keep you posted about this visit via our LinkedIn! #DasMachtCGMUC More information about the hydrogen core network: https://lnkd.in/e62g3Xav

𝗛𝗲𝗿𝘇𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗸𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻 Hester Somsen! Our new Dutch ambassador to Germany was accredited last week by Federal President Steinmeier. Her term of office has thus officially begun. “It is a great honor for me to represent the Netherlands in Germany. I come from the east of the Netherlands, near the border with Germany, growing up with the 'Mainzelmännchen' and the 'Sendung mit der Maus' and always being aware that Germany is our most important trading partner and a driving force within the European Union. I am happy to build on what has already been achieved in German-Dutch cooperation and I am delighted to be able to do this together with my colleagues here at the embassy in Berlin, the consulates in Düsseldorf and Munich, the NBSO’s in Hamburg, Frankfurt and Stuttgart, and the honorary consuls,” says the Ambassador. Hester Somsen was previously Deputy Coordinator for National Security and Counterterrorism, Director of Security Policy at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Ambassador of the Netherlands to Lebanon. We wish the ambassador a good start and look forward to her visit to Bavaria in November! Of course, we will keep you updated on her visit to southern Germany via our LinkedIn! #DasMachtCGMUC #NLinGermany Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Germany

𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗻-𝗪𝘂𝗿𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗴 & 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗯𝗮𝗻𝘁: 𝗮 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 & 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 Consul General Annelies Faro, together with Mirjam M. of the NBSO Stuttgart, had the honour of joining the delegation of the Minister of Social Affairs, Health and Integration Baden-Württemberg, Manne Lucha, and Christine Erzberger, representative of the State of Baden-Wurttemberg to the European Union, to a visit of the Dutch province of North Brabant. Former Honorary Consul in Stuttgart, Albrecht Kruse, and regional minister for Economic Affairs for the Provincie Noord-Brabant Martijn van Gruijthuijsen, invited Baden-Wurttemberg’s Minister during King's Day 2023 in Stuttgart. And last week, the time had come for the delegation to travel to North Brabant. Thanks to Iris Schoones for the fantastic programme! The delegation visited the (monitorings centre of the) Jeroen Bosch Ziekenhuis and the JADS - Jheronimus Academy of Data Science to exchange views on health data utilisation, personalised medicine and digital applications. At the JADS they attended two presentations: one on the Therapie Op Maat instituut (TOMi) and the other by Kinetic Analysis, who gave insight into the intelligent use of human motion data. We look forward to many collaborations in life science & health between the two states!

#DasMachtCGMUC 𝗚𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 - 𝗮 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀' 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝘂𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰! How do you show curators from the design sector in Germany the creative Netherlands at its best? It's simple: take them to Eindhoven for the Dutch Design Week. This did our colleague Ulrike-Claudia Pulzer together with her colleagues Stéphanie Scheerens from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Germany and Lene ter Haar from the Consulaat-Generaal van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden in Düsseldorf. Together they organized a 3-day program. After the Grand Opening of the DDW, they started with a visit to Atelier NL, then continued to the StrijpS, Klokgebouw and Kettelhuisplein with the What if Lab, the SECRID Talent Podium, the World Design Embassies, the Innovation Lab and to the Dutch Design Awards 2024 in the Microlab Hall. The next day, they had a network breakfast in de Kazerne, with the German Design Graduates. Followed by a Q&A with Vincent van Herk, Head of the DDW, a visit to the Van Abbemuseum and of course they also went to the New Order of Fashion LAB. The program ended with a tour through the amazing Graduation Show of the Design Academy Eindhoven and a very delicious dinner from Vaderland.nu in the inspiring exhibition space of Dutch Invertuals with a future talk by artist alicia framis. In a nutshell: the you saw the creative Netherlands at its best! Many thanks to all the wonderful makers, designers, architects, artists, design-thinkers, creative directors and organizers for the very inspiring and professional introductions and explanations and for all the support that made this successful curators' trip possible. The contacts for new collaborations between Germany and the Netherlands have been made!

𝗖𝘆𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗚𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 Last night we had the honor of hosting once again a Dutch German #Cyber Security Networking Dinner on the occasion of it-sa. Also this year, several Dutch cyber security entrepreneurs are participating in it-sa – Home of IT Security, Europe's leading cyber security trade fair in Nuremberg. Participation in the it-sa offers Dutch entrepreneurs a good insight into the diverse and high-quality cyber security landscape in Germany and the opportunity to significantly expand their German and international network in a short time. We are very pleased that, during the #networking dinner, we were able to bring together an interesting mix of entrepreneurs, cluster institutions and government representatives from the Netherlands and Germany to move collaboration on the topic of cyber security another step forward. Today, the second day of it-sa takes place. We wish everyone again a fruitful day in Nuremberg!
