🌊🌍 Die Kieler Woche 2024 - ein voller Erfolg für Nachhaltigkeit und Innovation! Vom 22. bis 30. Juni lockte das traditionsreiche Event Sportbegeisterte und Besucher aus aller Welt an. In ihrer 130. Auflage verband die Kieler Woche gekonnt Tradition mit Moderne und setzte ein starkes Zeichen für Umweltbewusstsein. Besonders hervorzuheben war die Premiere des Wingfoilings, bei der junge Talente auf X-15-Boards mit über 35 Knoten beeindruckten. Weltmeisterin Fiona Wylde leitete ein erfolgreiches Demo- und Coaching-Event, das auch Anfängern den Einstieg in diese aufstrebende Sportart ermöglichte. Auch wir waren mit unserem Müllsammelschiff, der „SeeKuh I“, dabei und haben erfolgreich Seegras aus der Strander Bucht entfernt. Günther Bonin erhält den Zugabe-Preis 2024! 🏆 🌊 Günther Bonin wurde am 13. Juni für sein Lebenswerk mit dem Zugabe-Preis 2024 der Körber-Stiftung ausgezeichnet. Der mit 60.000 Euro dotierte Preis würdigt Persönlichkeiten 60plus, die ein Unternehmen mit gesellschaftlichem Mehrwert aufgebaut haben. Bonin gründete 2011 One Earth – One Ocean e.V. (oeoo), um weltweit Gewässer von Plastikmüll, Öl und Schadstoffen zu befreien. Mit innovativen Müllsammelschiffen sammelt oeoo Plastikmüll aus Meeren, Flüssen und Seen, der anschließend recycelt wird. Seit 2018 ist oeoo Partner der UN-Kampagne CleanSeas. Their unwavering commitment to environmental education impacts thousands of children. They are leading innovators in the field and their groundbreaking bubble curtain technology, which diverts waste from oceans without harming marine life, marks a significant step forward in environmental preservation. This year, we're backing their feasibility study – and we are very excited to see the results. We were very proud to hear that it was our joint support, that enabled them to continue the project until now. Last week, @oeoorio had the privilege of working with the incredible kids of Municipal School Amadeu Rocha, and it was nothing short of inspiring! They embarked on a mission to cleanse Praça Mauá, right in the heart of downtown Rio de Janeiro, in front of the awe-inspiring Museu do Amanhã and Museu de Artes do Rio. October 12 was Children's Day in Brazil, and we asked these young changemakers to present us with their innovative solutions to change the world! With the enthusiasm of these young minds and the passion of our dedicated team, we're making meaningful progress toward a cleaner, greener Rio de Janeiro and a brighter world for all! #oeoo #saveourocean

What an exciting week in Hamburg at the Wetter.Wasser.Waterkant Festival! Our dedicated teams were on site every day to guide school classes on the SeeKuh waste collecting ship and offer microplastic workshops on the MS Wohldorf. Each day, around 100 students had the opportunity to get to know the SeeKuh and learn more about our commitment to clean oceans.⁠ ⁠ In our workshops 'Plastic flood in the Elbe', the students learned that microplastics are continuously found in the Elbe river and how plastics have permeated all areas of life. ⁠ A big thank you to our great supporters Manfred, Karl-Heinz, Lennart, Paula, Joachim, Ilka as well as Barbara and Sabine who enriched this educational week with their lectures and readings. You are great 💙

17 tons of waste collected so far 🌊 Good things come to those who wait! We are overjoyed that our Circular Explorer has been cruising the waters of Manila Bay since June. She is not only a garbage collection vessel, but also an ambassador for the environment, a platform for education and science, and a place where solutions are born. Despite challenges, we have already cleaned 3 million m², collected 17000 kg of trash, and covered 243 nautical miles in the Bay 💪 Every day brings new knowledge and insights about our waters. A big thank you is owed to the Holcim teams in Switzerland and the Philippines, our project partner Philippine Trasmarine Carriers (PTC), the Philippine Coast Guard, UP MSI and our dedicated team on the ground. Their support makes our project possible and shows that change is achieved through collaboration. A huge thank you also goes to our friends, staff and volunteers from oeoo, AVP and PNP Maritime. Your work, whether in Germany or locally, is helping to make the world a little bit better. Together we move forward, always in the name of the environment. Maraming, maraming Salamat! 💙🌍
