At this years' Oktoberfest we said "Prost" to tradition and a whole lot of fun! 🍻 Our annual gathering at the Schützen-Festzelt has become a beloved tradition to connect, unwind, and strengthen the camaraderie that drives us every day – and sometimes that means putting aside our hard hats for a stein (or two) in hand! Work hard, play hard: that’s the Orcan spirit. 🙌️ #Oktoberfest2024 #TeamEvent #JoinTheTeam #EnergyEfficiency

Info
Orcan Energy develops, produces, distributes and finances energy modules for the conversion of waste heat into clean and cheap electricity and constructs them on a turnkey basis, including the installation required for waste heat extraction. Orcan Energy's products tap into the enormous global waste heat potential and enable customers to save CO2 emissions and costs at the same time. Orcan Energy unlocks the energy potential of unused heat sources based on second-generation Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) technology. By massively downsizing the established technology and developing a modular solution, Orcan Energy is turning small and medium-sized waste heat sources, as well as lower temperatures into economically viable options for the first time. As a result, the modules can be installed directly wherever excess heat is generated, for example in industrial processes, in engines, on ships or even in geothermal plants. Orcan Energy's solutions are already helping companies in the cement, oil and gas, power generation, and marine sectors to achieve their sustainability goals, reduce costs and comply with future regulations. Thanks to flexible financing models, companies can save cash-flow-positive electricity or fuel costs with waste heat power generation from day one. Orcan Energy has already marketed more than 600 modules with over 7 million operating hours internationally. The company is headquartered in Munich, Germany.

Converting waste heat into clean energy with SCHWENK Deutschland 🚀🏭 We're thrilled to announce a new collaboration with SCHWENK Zement, one of Germany's leading cement manufacturers! We will capture and convert previously unused waste heat at their Allmendingen site. Through the use of our innovative heat-to-power technology, five of our ORC modules will harness waste heat from the clinker cooler. By making use of previously wasted heat, SCHWENK is optimizing energy efficiency while significantly reducing its carbon footprint. This marks our fourth cement sector partnership in recent months, highlighting the potential of our technology for a greener cement industry. Through the cooperation with Orcan and other companies over 8.5 million kWh of energy and over 13,200 tons of CO2 will be saved at the Allmendingen site annually! 🙌 #WasteHeatRecovery #EnergyEfficiency #ORC #CementIndustry #Decarbonization

Fostering innovation in Europe: Highlights from the Hamburg Science Summit 2024 🌍 Last month, our CTO and co-founder, Andreas Schuster, participated in the Hamburg Science Summit 2024, invited by the Körber-Stiftung and the European Patent Office. At the summit, Andreas exchanged practical insights on patents and IP (intellectual property) transfer with scientists, university leaders, and entrepreneurs – drawing from our own journey of spinning off from university to becoming a market leader in energy efficiency solutions. 🚀 The event featured inspiring round-table discussions with distinguished speakers like Enrico Letta, former Italian Prime Minister and president of the Jacques Delors Institute, Tino Krause, Regional Director Central Europe META Technology Platforms, Patrick Cramer, Director at Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry/University of Gottingen and many others. 👉 A key takeaway: Europe must prioritize market-driven innovation to stay competitive globally. Intellectual Property remains a cornerstone of this effort, ensuring innovations are both protected and marketable. It was exciting to engage with inspiring individuals and renowned experts in their fields such as Ilja Rudyk, Chief Economist Unit at the European Patent Office, Joachim Fiedler, CEO and Founder of FIDLOCK GmbH), Ia Modin, Partner at GOZZO Advokater. #HamburgScienceSummit #IntellectualProperty #Startups #Entrepreneurs

Prioritizing Mental Wellbeing in the Workplace Today marks World Mental Health Day, a global initiative started by the WFMH World Federation for Mental Health and the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness and support mental health across the globe. This year’s theme focuses on mental health in the workplace, a topic close to our hearts at Orcan. We believe that a sustainable future starts with a healthy, balanced, and empowered team. Here’s how we’re making mental well-being a priority: 🔄 Fostering work-life-balance: We offer flexible working hours that allow our team to create schedules that align with their personal needs. 🏃♂️ Encouraging physical activity: Our employees can get the EGYM Wellpass that gives them access to over 10,000 fitness and health facilities across Germany and Austria and also offers online courses. Employees only cover a small portion; we take care of the rest! 🌍 Providing sustainable opportunities: Alternatively our employees can get the guudcard (guud - benefits for a better future), where they receive a monthly allowance to spend on eco-friendly activities – whether it’s sustainable transportation, shopping for ethically produced clothes, or enjoying healthy, locally-sourced meals. We know that taking care of our planet starts with taking care of our people first. How does your company support mental well-being at the workplace? Let’s keep the conversation going because #MentalHealthMatters 🧠❤️ #WorldMentalHealthDay2024 #WHO #WorldMentalHealthDay

Boosting Energy Efficiency in Refineries 🔥 As we get ready for European Refining Technology Conference (ERTC) 2024 in Lisbon (Nov 11-14), we’ll be looking at the huge potential for waste heat recovery in the refining industry over the next few weeks. Did you know that 30-40% of the energy used in a typical refinery is lost as waste heat? Now, imagine turning that waste heat into green electricity – without changing anything in your current processes. With our heat-to-power modules, this is possible. Our technology helps you save energy, reduce emissions, and improve profitability. 💡 Follow us as we share more about how our solutions can reshape the future of refineries and the oil & gas industry. We’ll be sharing these insights on LinkedIn and present our applications at ERTC 2024 (booth 23) in Lisbon! #WasteHeatRecovery #EnergyEfficiency #ERTC2024 #OilAndGas
