Celebrating German Innovators: EIC Accelerator Success! The March deadline saw intense competition. Out of 978 companies that submitted full proposals, 349 were interviewed by juries composed of experienced investors and entrepreneurs. Ultimately, the jury selected the 68 top companies to receive funding, which translated to a 7% overall success rate. Among the 68 winners, 13 companies are based in Germany. We are thrilled to announce that Zaz Ventures has successfully supported 7 of the 13 German winners in the March 2024 EIC Accelerator deadline! kiutra is developing a cryogen-free refrigeration system to achieve ultra-low temperatures for various applications. By eliminating the reliance on expensive and hazardous cryogens like liquid helium, kiutra will offer cost savings, modularity, safety, and ease of use. Last Mile Semiconductor is transforming IoT connectivity with its low-cost, ultra-low-power wireless chipset, which combines 5G and Bluetooth efficiency. tozero is eliminating lithium-ion battery waste, using a novel hydrometallurgical recycling approach to recover critical raw materials, achieving high recovery rates and reducing carbon footprints by up to 80%. QC Design is revolutionising quantum computing by providing SMEs with licensable Fault-Tolerant Architectures and design software to ensure fault tolerance, levelling the playing field against larger competitors and fostering Europe's leadership in QC innovation. Phlair (previously Carbon Atlantis) is developing an electrolyser to reduce CO2 capture costs to below €75/tonne at a megatonne scale. The company aims to capture over 500,000t-CO2/year by 2030 and 100 megatonnes/year by 2045. Proxima Fusion is engineering an integrated modelling framework to optimize and deliver a cost-competitive current-free stellarator configuration for generating electricity through fusion reactions, focusing on engineering constraints to reduce manufacturing costs and ensure feasibility. And a seventh company in the energy field that will communicate later on this award. The journey to this success involved rigorous evaluation, with only the top companies making the cut. This highlights not just the innovative spirit of these businesses but also their potential to drive significant impact in their respective fields. Congratulations to all the winners!
