We are powering a greener industry with our latest long-term agreement with TotalEnergies for green hydrogen supply. Just six months after deciding to build our 300 MW electrolysis plant in Lingen, we've proudly secured an anchor customer in TotalEnergies. The impact? This green hydrogen will slash emissions at TotalEnergies’ Leuna refinery by 300,000 metric tons of CO₂ each year, akin to taking 140,000 cars off the road. By operating our electrolysers with renewable energy generated in real time and backed by our hydrogen storage facility in Gronau-Epe, we ensure a reliable hydrogen supply.

How can we support women in the hydrogen sector and foster a more diverse industry? This critical question—along with many others on equality in professional hydrogen careers—was the focus of today’s UK-German Hydrogen Partnership’s exclusive Women’s Networking Lunch at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. It was an honor to moderate the discussion alongside Hanna Schumacher (BMWK), Roseanna Watson (British Embassy Berlin), Kathrin Goldammer (Reiner Lemoine Institut gGmbH), Maira Kusch (World Energy Council), and Youn-Chong Choi (ITM Power). Key takeaways that resonated with me: 📲 Networking and mentorship are essential for career growth. Building strong connections and having allies can make all the difference. Take advantage of platforms like LinkedIn, networking events, and mentorship programs. 🧠 Skills for success—both in hydrogen and beyond—include agility, an entrepreneurial mindset, and resilience. These are crucial for professionals of all genders. 💪 Women often have to work harder to prove their expertise. We are frequently underestimated—but persistence pays off. Stay confident, challenge perceptions, and embrace what makes you different. You don’t need to conform to traditional norms to succeed. The discussions covered a wide range of perspectives—from policy frameworks to workplace culture and personal experiences. I’m leaving Berlin feeling inspired and energized. 𝗘𝗨 𝗨𝗻𝘃𝗲𝗶𝗹𝘀 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗗𝗲𝗮𝗹: 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 🚀 Earlier today, the European Commission unveiled the #CleanIndustrialDeal (CID)—a landmark initiative to accelerate the deployment of Europe’s cleantech sector. This is a strong investment signal that the EU is finally getting serious about becoming the “home of cleantech.” The CID will strengthen the business case for #cleantech, create new demand opportunities, and unlock de-risking tools to mobilize private capital. 𝗞𝗲𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 #CID 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲: ✅ EU preference criteria for public procurement & funding ✅ Easier State Aid approval for cleantech projects, including green hydrogen ✅ Lead markets for products made with clean hydrogen ✅ A top-up of Invest EU: the CID calls for increasing the EU guarantee facility, which the Commission projects could unlock up to EU 50 billion in private capital for cleantech scale-up. This prioritizes innovative companies, particularly beneficial for cleantech start-ups and scale-ups through guarantee-type instruments. Many tangible measures advocated by over 100 cleantech leaders in an open letter sent to the Commission by Cleantech for Europe and its regional partners’ in January have been adopted into the EU’s plan. These are the right steps to scale up #innovation and deploy cleantech fast, while ensuring we stay on track to completely phase out fossil fuels in Europe. Germany has unmatched potential in Europe to benefit from the growth of the hydrogen economy – yet at the same time, we are still struggling with the limited availability of green molecules. 💡 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗼 𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹? Green hydrogen plays a key role in two ways: 1. A vital fuel for industrial decarbonization. 2. A catalyst for economic growth and job creation in the electrolysis industry—an innovative sector already largely “Made in Germany.” 🚀 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 To accelerate market expansion, the next legislative period must begin with decisive action, including: 🔷 𝗔 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗻 for a truly resilient and European energy supply. 🔷𝗔 𝗳𝗼𝗰𝘂𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 via sector-specific instruments with an initial focus on the refining sector. 🔷 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻 𝗰𝗼𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 including a renewed buy-in to the European Hydrogen Bank via the “auction as a service” mechanism. 🔷 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗲 safeguarding the domestic European supply chain and avoiding technological dependencies 🗳️ 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝘃𝗼𝘁𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝘀!
