Same look – new material: Our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze figurines are identical to the schleich® characters that are beloved by children all over the world, but consist of a new material. There are important criteria that must be fulfilled. Of course, the high quality and safety of our figurines comes first. We also had to find a paint that would stick to the new material. We overcame the challenges and found a material that meets all these criteria and can be returned to the cycle in its entirety ♻️. What's next on our sustainability journey? 🌱 Beginning in 2025 we will launch additional recyclable figurines every year and by 2027, the majority of our figurines will be Cradle to Cradle Certified®. #sustainability #morethanatoy #cradletocradle
Do you still have schleich® figurines from your own childhood at home? 91% of people have never thrown away a schleich® figurine! Our play figurines have always been renowned for their longevity and are passed down through generations. This longevity is the most sustainable form of consumption. With our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze figurines, we now go one step further: the figurines are recyclable! ♻️ If a figurine is no longer played with, it can be returned through our own recycling program. We will then ensure that it is added to the recycling process and that a new figurine is created from its granulate. 🌍 Meet Miriam Kortmann - Our Sustainability Advocate 🌍 We are excited to introduce Miriam Kortmann, a dedicated working student at Schleich, who recently completed her master’s thesis where she developed a strategy for how Schleich can improve its ecological footprint in line with the 1.5-degree goal. We had the pleasure of interviewing her about her journey at Schleich and wanted to share some of her responses with you. 💡What made you decide to accept a working student position at Schleich? “A fellow student had already worked at Schleich as a working student and was very enthusiastic. I've also always enjoyed playing with Schleich toys and wanted to know what the company was all about.” 💡What are your main tasks and areas of responsibility? “Within our team, I am specifically responsible for the area of climate. My main tasks are greenhouse gas accounting and climate strategy.” 💡How were you accepted and integrated into your team? “I received a very friendly and open welcome in the team, was involved from day one and was allowed to take on responsibility.” 💡How has Schleich supported your personal and professional development? “I was able to take part in various seminars in the field of sustainability and thus further my professional development.” 💡Would you recommend a working student position at Schleich and if so, why? “Definitely! As a working student at Schleich, you will learn a lot and take on responsible tasks. And you'll be in constant contact with the cute Schleich animals 😊.” Miriam is now travelling on further adventures outside our company, but with her recommendation we are happy to welcome more #YoungTalents to leave their mark with us 🐾 #makeyourmark
Today is a very special day - after four years of intensive research, we can finally present our first three recyclable figurines: a lion, a bonobo and a turtle. We are very proud, because these three pioneers are the world's first Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze play figurines! Cradle to Cradle® means that all of the product’s constituent materials and substances can be returned into the cycle that created them. This means that our Cradle to Cradle Certified® Bronze figurines can take on new shapes again and again without losing the high quality. We are convinced of the holistic Cradle to Cradle® principle. It is a system based on positives, which makes it an encouraging concept for a future that is in line with our goals as a toy manufacturer ➡️ By 2027 the majority of our figurines will be recyclable!
