At the Lean & Green Summit 2024, visitors had the opportunity to learn firsthand how companies have successfully combined economic profitability, sustainability, and lean management. SÜDPACK was represented at the summit by Pascal Bader (Head of Lean Management) and Lisa Marie Schmidberger (Sustainability Manager) who gave a talk entitled “J. Liker speaks about systems thinking – How SÜDPACK applies this concept while keeping GREEN in focus.” 💡 How can companies genuinely embed GREEN into their operations without resorting to greenwashing? SÜDPACK demonstrated how this can be done without losing sight of other key topics. 👉🏼 During the keynote, we explained what we mean by “systems thinking” and how we take a systematic approach to managing customer and market requirements (including GREEN criteria). At the core of this system is an interactive platform that makes the company’s strategy, goals, and the corresponding goal-oriented projects accessible, transparent, and manageable. We also demonstrated how employees are upskilled to enable us to achieve these goals. 🍃 Sustainability plays a significant role in our strategy. Practical examples were provided on how “GREEN,” particularly climate protection, is integrated within this system and how our company is gaining traction in this strategic direction. We would like to thank the organizers for hosting a fantastic event. 👏 Jeffrey Liker Lean & Green | T&O Group #leanmanagement #sustainability #leanandgreen

Although the upcoming PPWR has not yet provided a final definition for sustainable packaging, SÜDPACK has been exploring the key factors that contribute to product sustainability and the criteria we need to follow when developing new products to ensure they truly deserve the “sustainable” label. Accordingly, we have updated our roadmap for sustainable film solutions with the goal of combining the following properties and factors: ✅ Recyclability ✅ Material efficiency/resource conservation ✅ Alternative raw materials such as bio-based, synthetic plastics that are of non-fossil origin ✅ Regranulates and recyclates (PIR – post-industrial recyclate and PCR – post-consumer recyclate) ✅ Eco-balance of our products along the process chain All of these points as a whole are relevant for SÜDPACK if we want to reach our sustainability and CO₂e reduction goals. Above all, recyclability and films with recyclate content will become increasingly important as the circular economy in the plastics industry expands and the EU’s PPWR takes effect. These efforts must also be in line with our eco-balances. ➡️ Currently, 30% of our films are recyclable, and we aim to increase this to 100% by 2030. A superior experience for cheese lovers 🧀 – SÜDPACK has launched a new type of modified atmosphere packaging with a practical reclose system for the popular cheese Bergader Bergbauern. Thanks to the material-efficient, PP-based barrier films from the Pure-Line range, this packaging solution signals a move to increased sustainability and a more eco-friendly future. The new packaging concept is more than just product packaging. It is a major step forward in the battle against food waste, promoting more responsible resource management and an improved eco-balance. Sustainability is embedded in Bergader’s DNA, and it was their sustainability team that initiated this project. With our 40 years of experience in PP-based bottom webs, combined with our expertise in application technology and the processing of thermoforming packaging, we were ideally positioned to meet these demanding requirements. 💡 By switching from the previous PET/PE or APET/PE packaging to a lighter, more material-efficient PP-based packaging concept, significant CO2 savings can be achieved due to the smaller carbon footprint of the polypropylene polymer. Furthermore, the volume of plastic saved amounts to hundreds of tonnes per year. The recyclability of the overall packaging has been certified at 85% by the independent institute cyclos-HTP. 💡 Another key requirement in this context is maximum product protection and a long shelf life. Both are guaranteed due to various factors, such as the excellent sealing performance of the top and bottom webs, which are perfectly matched and equipped with the necessary high barriers, including against oxygen. What ultimately convinced Bergader to choose PurePP was the holistic packaging concept – as well as its excellent machinability. Read our Bergader case study for more details of this optimal packaging concept and the intensive project work that led to its creation: https://lnkd.in/eVxjpbFp #sustainability #foodpackaging #recyclability

🎉 60 Years of SÜDPACK – A Reason to Celebrate! 🎉 In 1964, Alfred Remmele began producing cheese ripening bags in a small garage in Ochsenhausen, Swabia, laying the foundations for what we are today – one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-performance films. For six decades, we have set the standard in the plastics and packaging industry with our innovative products, and today, we are actively leading the transformation of our sector. Our guiding principle is “Create visions, drive innovation.” 🚀 We are proud of our company’s history, and on Friday evening, the SÜDPACK family came together to celebrate this remarkable milestone with an Oktoberfest-themed event 🍻🥨. Featuring highlights such as a ceremonial keg tapping, a delicious family dinner, great music 🎶, and many unforgettable moments, the evening was a resounding success. 🎈🥳 At this point, we would also like to express our gratitude to the city of Ochsenhausen for the wonderful gift: Jägerstraße will be renamed Alfred-Remmele-Straße. 🙏 Here’s to 60 amazing years and many more innovations to come! #timetocelebrate #SÜDPACK

A recent electricity study conducted by the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Industry and Commerce (BWIHK) for the IHK Ulm has alarmed businesses in the region: Without faster expansion of power grids and renewable energy, the local economy faces massive competitive disadvantages and, in the worst case, supply shortages. 💡 In his role as an entrepreneur, owner of SÜDPACK, and active member of IHK Ulm’s energy cluster, Johannes Remmele has long been a vocal advocate for accelerating the energy transition in Baden-Württemberg. Recently, Thomas Dörflinger visited SÜDPACK’s headquarters in Ochsenhausen. As Deputy Chairman of the CDU Parliamentary Group in the State Parliament, he is committed to reducing bureaucracy across industries and, not least, to ensuring greater reliability with regard to the political framework. Christoph Angstl, SÜDPACK’s new Chief Operating Officer (COO), also participated in the discussions. Read more about the conversation with Thomas Dörflinger and the demands and criticisms raised by Johannes Remmele and Christoph Angstl here: https://lnkd.in/e9WZUrVs #SÜDPACK #energytransition
