It is with great excitement that we welcome our newest vessel, the Panda 004, to the Tailwind family! 🚢 🐼 💙 As the long-term charterers of this ship from Elbdeich Reederei, we were deeply honored to host the christening ceremony this past Saturday in Moerdijk. We were delighted to have our dear colleague, Sabine Hoffmockel, as the ship’s godmother. Today, we start with Jan Nicolas Peters 🚢, who, after eight years as a chief mate on the high seas 🌊, swapped the bridge of a container ship for a desk in Tailwind’s Operations Management last year. Together with his three teammates (all of whom also bring their personal practical shipping expertise to the table), the 35-year-old has been using his expertise in our headquarters in Hamburg 💙. As Senior Operations Manager, Jan Nicolas is tasked with the complex and dynamic planning of the entire voyage of our fleet: from stowage planning and fuel bunkering to synchronizing the arrivals of the feeder ships with the port calls of our Panda Express Service 🐼. Are bunkering barges available when we need them? What about the berths in the respective ports? Will the tide play along so that the ships can pass under the bridges along the way, for example? “We want to constantly optimize our processes,” Jan Nicolas emphasizes, “which is why we always check exactly which adjustments we can make to a voyage next time.” Because at Tailwind, we put our customers first and always aim to deliver your goods on time 🚀. #ShipDifferent #reliable #simple #together #teamtailwind

It’s International Friendship Day on July 30, which prompted us to check what that means for our #teamtailwind. And what can we say, the shipping sector surely seems to enable long-standing relationships. For example: today, Matthias Hahn works as Senior Commercial Manager in our Commercial Support team – about 20 years ago, Alexander Prahl, Head of Sales, was his apprentice when both worked at the shipping company Team Lines. They still remember that Monday morning years ago when a terminal worker told them over the phone: “No worries. We always discharge the vessels.” To their great relief, MV “Ingrid” had been operated by the terminal properly even without any notice. Or take Norbert Hahn and Leon Schultz (both joined Tailwind in 2023, though at different times): this is the third time that the two of them meet as co-workers at the same shipping company. While they never encountered each other face to face at their first mutual employer, Maersk, they worked together closely at OPDR; Leon for the Trade Management team, and Norbert for Key Account and Tender Management. And when, after a couple of other engagements, Norbert joined our Sales team last year, who was already part of Tailwind’s Trade Management? Leon, of course! Theirs is a constructive and trusting business relationship – always thinking about the “big picture”, because that’s exactly what’s needed between Trade and Sales. And then there’s Andre Duerre-Saager and Jens von Appen, who have also known each other for 20 years. Working for Full-Pak at the time, André organized wine imports for Jens, then the Director Logistics at Tophi. Most impressively, André never hesitated to get into his car for a five-hour drive in the early morning when a problem needed solving (usually accompanied by his beloved cocker spaniel Tiffy). Over the years, André and Jens stayed in touch, even watching football matches of their rivalling teams together – and eventually, when Tailwind was looking for a logistics consultant in 2022, André knew immediately whom he would recommend. This summer, Jens took on the role as Head of Accounting and Operational Controlling, while André (who carries the employee number 001) is Senior Sales Manager at Tailwind.   #FriendshipDay #reliable #simple #together #teamtailwind #shipdiffernt

Happy birthday to us! 😉 It’s been two years since the Wiking left the Port of Taicang as the first vessel to sail for Tailwind Shipping Lines. 🚢 Over the course of the past 24 months, our fleet has grown to nine ships. This summer, we welcomed our biggest vessel to date: Panda 006 (formerly Kea) with a maximum capacity of 6,800 TEU. 🐼 🐯 🐬 Something become evident on our second birthday: thanks to a very reliable schedule and short transfer times, Tailwind Shipping Lines represents a vital component in securing supply chains, both for Lidl as well as our external customers. 🙌 #ShipDifferent #HappyBirthday #SupplyChains #teamlidl #teamtailwind

We do so much more than just deliver standard containers on time – we also transport OOG and breakbulk projects, for example. 🚢   A few weeks ago, machinery parts for gas insulated switchgears arrived in Koper on board the “Faith” stuffed in a 1x 40’ flat rack and 6x 40’ open top containers. Lot 2 of this project was transported by “Tabea” from Qingdao and just arrived at Koper in the last days. To make sure the Qingdao loading would go as smoothly as planned, everyone worked hand in hand, ensuring the customer’s requirements were met on spot. 📍 👏   Recently, another customer booked ship’s propellers to be sent from Europe to China. It goes without saying, that also this shipment arrived spot on time with our Panda Express Service, a service exceeding the average liner reliability by far on this trade lane. 📅 ✔   We safely transport goods of all shapes and sizes, be it Ouf of Gauge or Breakbulk Project cargoes.
