"Growing up in the Ruhrpott region of Germany, surrounded by the hard-working Kumpels (miners), I learned the value of speaking from the heart, the true meaning of hard work, and that what really matters is not where you come from or what you own, but who you are. This week, many trivago talents stepped out of their comfort zones, laced up their running shoes, and participated in the exciting B2Run race in Düsseldorf to support the DKMS Donor Center in their fight against blood cancer 💪🏃♂️ The enthusiasm from our team was inspiring, and the cheers from family and friends on the sidelines boosted our spirits even further ☺️ We are proud to see so many of our talents embracing the opportunity to stay active, push their limits, and support a meaningful cause. "Back in 2020 I started retraining as a "Fachinformatiker für Systemintegration" after working in public healthcare for more than five years. Finding the required internship at the end of the 1.5 years of retraining was a daunting task. The pandemic made everything even more difficult. Luckily for me, a friend who worked at trivago recommended it to me. One 1.5 hours interview later, I knew for sure that I would want to work here. My journey at trivago began in April 2021 and no single day has been the same since. From the challenging Python lessons with my Ausbilder Theo Irimia to the deep-dives into hardware and networking with Florian Kruschel, I had the chance to learn so much more at work than I ever did at school. I went through a ton of German bureaucracy to get me out of the retraining and trivago gave me the opportunity to finish my Fachinformatiker education as an apprentice at trivago. Thanks to Vesal Mohammadi, in November 2021, I got the position of Systems Engineer in the Networking team. A short time thereafter, I became an Ausbilder myself so I now train my own apprentices. This has been my journey up until now: from a public healthcare worker to a Systems Engineer at one of the greatest companies within two years; now also a certified IHK Ausbilder with 3 apprentices.
