At TUI, we’re really proud of our strong partnership in Rhodes and our amazing collaborators at the airport and in the local community! Last week, our Aviation Challenge flight from Amsterdam to Rhodes and back to Amsterdam again, showcased our collaboration and mutual ambition to work together to find sustainable solutions to reduce our environmental impact.   Together with key stakeholders from Skyserv Handling Services and Fraport Greece and Musement, we implemented around 15 initiatives, including solar-powered equipment, enhanced waste segregation and recycling, electric/hybrid vehicles, fuel efficiency measures. But also beach cleans and customer engagement on sustainability in our hotels and the airport. This is a great example of The Rhodes Co-Lab in action. The Rhodes Co-Lab is an initiative of the South Aegean Region, TUI Group, TUI Care Foundation, Municipality of Rhodes, stakeholders, and the local community to co-create solutions that will transform Rhodes into a holistic sustainable tourism destination.   The effort has been months in the making, and we can’t wait to see what’s next! 🚀💚 #Partnership #Innovation #TheAviationChallenge

#Recap: Last week, TUI's hotel team joined the Future Hospitality Summit in #Dubai to connect with investors and hotel owners and talk about the latest trends in hotel development, sustainability and innovation. 💬🤝 In two different panel discussions, TUI BLUE Managing Director Artur Gerber and Head of Global Development Wesam Okasha, shared their view on how to lead a hotel company with purpose as well as the African approach to authentic leisure experiences. The summit was an excellent opportunity to meet with partners from the hospitality industry and discuss TUI's vision for the future. We plan to further expand our portfolio – not only of TUI BLUE, but of all our 12 differentiated leisure hotel brands. ➡️ So, what exciting hotel locations would you like to see in the future? 🔮

Last Thursday, October 3rd, a Boeing 737-8 from TUI Airline flew from Amsterdam to Rhodes and back. Not only bringing holidaymakers to their holiday destination, but also as a successful participation in #TheAviationChallenge. The Aviation Challenge is a SkyTeam initiative to challenge airlines to make operations as efficient and sustainable as possible. Participating airlines share the results of the tests so they can share knowledge on how to reduce emissions. Various initiatives were tested before and during the flight, among which: ✈️ flight planning for the most direct and fuel-efficient route to and from Rhodes.   ✈️Using as much electrical equipment as possible during airport ground processes; e.g. conveyor belt, pushback and baggage carts. In partnership with our handler Swissport ✈️ plastic wine bottles and water bottles with recyclable aluminium cans ✈️ digital menus instead of inflight brochures to reduce weight and paper ✈️ cups for hot and cold drinks to reduce single-use catering items ✈️ onboard waste in Rhodes to reduce onboard weight and to recycle paper, plastics, cans and glass in Rhodes and Amsterdam.   The Aviation Challenge accelerates the adoption of insights and solutions required to make lasting change. This is one of many steps towards improving our impact through innovation and transparency.   We want to inspire and encourage our travellers to join us in becoming more responsible wherever possible. As airlines, we also inspire each other and share findings. Because sustainability is not a mutual competition but a mutual commitment.

As part of our Black History Month celebrations, yesterday we operated two flights crewed entirely by black and mixed heritage colleagues from Manchester to Boa Vista and London Gatwick to Jamaica. ✈️ Guests were entertained by traditional steel bands as they checked in to the historic flights which showcased the contribution of the black and mixed heritage communities in the travel industry. 🙌🏾 TUI‘s Wellbeing and Inclusion Lead and co-founder of TUI CAN Miranda Simms said: “We are committed to making sure that every person—whether they’re flying with us or working with us—feels represented and included. Representation matters, and it inspires the next generation to see themselves in these roles and know it’s possible. ” First Officer Louis Farrell explained what crewing the Manchester to Boa Vista flight meant to him: “No matter your background or skin colour, there’s a place for you in any role you aspire to.
