On Tuesday we presented our 2024 annual results. As expected, they are lower than the exceptional results 2023, but still on a very high level. Mainly due to lower commodity prices, we expect significant earnings decline this year. Even though it might seem that climate protection is currently overshadowed by other issues in many parts of society and among many policymakers and doesn’t have the highest priority, we’re firmly convinced that our chosen path of decarbonization and green transformation is the right one  – for us, for society at large, for future generations, and for our shareholders. I am deeply grateful to our 7,500 employees for their unwavering dedication and daily commitment to achieving our goals. Our heart beats for energy. Reliable. Flexible. And steadily greener. It was great that so many journalists accepted our invitation to the annual press conference and following get-together in Düsseldorf. These discussions and personal exchanges are particularly valuable to me. And I'm looking forward to the next opportunity to do so. At current times of geopolitical disarray, it feels even better to focus on what’s in our control to make an impact: This week, Uniper closed an exceptional strong financial year 2024 with an Adjusted EBITDA of over 2.6 billion euros. Uniper Renewables is moving ahead with construction of 230MW of solar pv plants in Germany, UK and Hungary. At the same time, we are working on doubling up the renewables capacity to bring into execution this year. Marching on towards 10GW of renewables by 2030, driving the energy transition in Europe in a clever and commercial way.

At yesterday's Uniper annual results press conference, we reflected on an exceptionally strong 2024. Despite geopolitical and policy challenges, we have emerged more resilient, focused, and prepared for the future. So, what were the highlights? - Successfully navigating the historic termination of long-term gas contracts, significantly reducing risk - Making record investment decisions of more than €500 million, including €250 million to revitalise the Happurg hydro power plant - New renewable investments worth approx. €140 million in solar projects across Germany, the UK, and Hungary - Planned payment of €2.6 billion to the Federal Republic of Germany in the first quarter of 2025 Looking ahead, 2025 will bring new challenges, but: Our strategy remains our compass. We are ready to invest approx. €8 billion until the early 2030s to further secure and transform the energy system in Germany and beyond. We are accelerating our growth in the renewables business. The Uniper Board has taken the financial decision to move forward with five new renewable energy projects. Here’s what’s coming next: ☀️ Expanding solar power – The new solar photovoltaic (PV) projects are planned in Germany, the UK, and Hungary. 💰 €139 million investment – To support the construction of these projects. ⚡ 233MW installed capacity – Several sites are expected to go online later this year. These projects mark an important milestone for Uniper’s renewables business, which in 2025 enters an execution phase after building a development pipeline for renewables projects of more than 3 GW. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more details on the construction of the five renewable energy projects.

Maintaining stability in Europe’s energy supply and building for long-term transformation: Uniper’s strategy for a profitable energy transition. After an outstanding 2024, where strong results were delivered despite market challenges, we have a number of new projects on the horizon that will deliver the efficient and flexible energy that both Germany and Europe need. Our 2024 financial results are here. As expected, results were lower than an exceptional 2023, but 2024’s results were still at a very high level: – Adjusted EBITDA of €2.6 billion – Adjusted net income of €1.6 billion – Payment of €2.6 billion to the Federal Republic of Germany planned in the first quarter of 2025 The main reasons for the anticipated earnings decline are lower commodity price levels and the absence of earnings from successful hedging transactions recorded in previous years. Our 2025 adjusted EBITDA is projected to be between €0.9 billion and €1.3 billion, and 2025 adjusted net income projected at €250 million to €550 million. Looking after the green toads who live at one of our former power plant sites 🌱 This little fellow and his friends moved in to our former power plant site some years ago, as this kind of toad seeks out vegetated, moist and sunny areas. The green toad species is endangered, and it is therefore vital for them that we collaborate with the NABU Ecological Centre to look after their home. Back in the summer of 2023, the heat made the site so dry that the fire brigade had to be brought in to help us pump water into the field. Together with NABU Landesverband Niedersachsen e.V.we agreed measures to ensure the survival of the endangered species long-term. For instance: 🔎A licence agreement with NABU so that they can independently access the site to observe, count the toads and assess the condition of the watercourses. 💧Dredging the water points a little deeper and lining with foil so that the water is better retained. We also want to finance this measure. The measure will be implemented together with NABU and in likelihood the local fire brigade. 4 reactor pressure vessels segmented in 4 years: we set new global standard! In just 4 years, we dismantled 4 reactor pressure vessels (RPVs) – a feat that no one has ever achieved before. The secret? A proprietary method and close cooperation, resulting in a new benchmark in efficient and safe nuclear dismantling. The project started in 2020 in Barsebäck, southern Sweden, where the first two RPVs were segmented. The equipment and team then relocated to Oskarshamn on the east coast to compete their work. “We are proud to have dismantled two reactor pressure vessels at Barsebäck and two at OKG in just four years. The fact that it can be done, and with a successful result, is groundbreaking in the nuclear industry,” says Johan Svenningsson, CEO of Uniper Sweden. The segmentation was carried out using an innovative two-step thermal cutting process: 1️⃣ First, rings were cut from the upper part of the RPV and lifted to a rotating post-segmentation table. 2️⃣ A robot then further divided them into smaller pieces before packing. Using a robot to perform the cutting operations improves both the efficiency of the process, as well as the working environment for staff. The dismantling of the reactor pressure vessels at Oskarshamn and Barsebäck has been carried out by the UNNU consortium, consisting of NUKEM Technologies Engineering Services GmbH and Uniper Nuclear Services. Uniper Nuclear Services provides advanced nuclear decommissioning, dismantling and waste management services based on decades of experience operating nuclear power plants, and expertise in complex decommissioning projects.
