Choosing the right messaging system for your data center can be challenging. In my latest short video, I compare three heavyweight protocols that go beyond lightweight IoT: 1. Kafka: A log-based system that persistently stores every message. It offers incredible throughput and durability, ensuring no data is lost—even if a consumer goes offline. 2. RabbitMQ. Implements AMQP with rich routing and transactional guarantees. While it provides advanced messaging features, its overhead is higher and it’s best suited for complex enterprise applications rather than edge devices. 3. NATS. Known for its simplicity and speed, NATS delivers a minimal footprint and fast pub/sub capabilities. It’s ideal for cloud-native microservices, but may not be as standardized for broader industrial use. Watch the video to learn how these protocols stack up against each other, and why data-center-grade solutions might be your best bet for robust, scalable messaging.
