Kick-off for the Democracy Initiative BC4D at Wilkhahn! Democracy is not a given – it needs our committed engagement. That’s why Wilkhahn supports the Business Council for Democracy BC4D – an initiative by the Hertie Foundation, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, and the Institute for Strategic Dialogue. BC4D’s virtual training programs help adults equip themselves against hate speech, fake news, and conspiracy myths – by strengthening digital media literacy and fostering a constructive debate culture. "Democracy means freedom and self-determination – values that also form the foundation for innovation and business success. For us at Wilkhahn, it is therefore clear that a democratic environment ensures future viability – for companies and society alike. That’s why we are particularly excited about the huge interest in the BC4D program among our employees. Right from the start, we were able to form a diverse group of 30 Wilkhahn colleagues who are eager to engage with these crucial topics," explain shareholders Gisela Hahne and Julia Wilkening-Martin.   And don't forget: a new federal government will be elected in Germany on Sunday. The Wilkhahn Japan showroom’s design has an unexpected muse - a Czech villa. 🏯🌿 Last year, Wilkhahn Japan relocated its office and showroom to Akasaka, Tokyo. Unlike the previous showroom, the new light-filled open space overlooks the Akasaka Imperial Palace and Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden. We spoke with architect Nobuo Araki, head of The Archetype, about his motives behind the interior design. 🟢 "I often say half-jokingly that the interior design is only about 2% of the overall project. Here’s how Brooke Aitken Design and Wilkhahn worked hand-in-hand to create a custom table solution for Quay Quarter Sydney: The stunning Sola conference chairs, upholstered in rich tan leather, bring warmth to this conference room at Quay Quarter Sydney, beautifully complementing the surrounding artwork. But the true hero of this space? The Graph conference table. 🦸♂️ It was the key piece that convinced designer Samantha Hayen of Brooke Aitken Design that Wilkhahn was the perfect fit for the project. 🤝 “Our collaboration meant we could customize the tables to achieve the best solutions possible,” she shared. From dimensions to power box placement, our local team worked closely through multiple revisions to ensure the Graph table seamlessly fits the uniquely-shaped meeting rooms. Hayen also praised the Sola chairs, noting their blend of elegance, comfort, and quality. “They feel generous and elegant,” she said. Honoring a Legacy: In the ever-evolving world of design, some creations stand the test of time, telling stories through their form, function, and the visionaries behind them. 💡 Our Modus range, a masterpiece born from the brilliant minds of late Klaus Franck and his design partner Werner Sauer, continues to set the standard for dynamic and sustainable seating solutions. Though we lost Klaus Franck last year, his spirit lives on in every curve and contour of Modus. Thanks to its ingeniously simple and understated design, all Modus models are very easy to retrofit or re-cover. As a result, Modus is simple to repair and lasts a very long time. ♻️ Even after many years, each chair can be updated to reflect the state of the art and the latest aesthetic for a fraction of the procurement costs. This makes Modus a contemporary and sustainable piece of office furniture even today, more than 30 years after its introduction. We are deeply saddened by the loss of Klaus Franck, an outstanding architect and designer who has left a lasting mark on our company. His visionary designs and tireless commitment to sustainable design have made Wilkhahn what it is today. His works, such as the FS range and the Modus swivel chair program, continue to set standards today and reflect his philosophy of creating products that are both durable and resource-efficient. We are grateful for the many years of working together and the unforgettable moments we were able to share with him. Klaus Franck will always remain a part of Wilkhahn, and we will honor his legacy.
