Three new modules which can be used under the methodology VM0049 Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) within the Verified Carbon Standard Program, have been launched by Verra. The purpose of these modules is to make it possible for projects to quantify the carbon dioxide removals which are a result of direct air capture (DAC) projects. #CCS, or Carbon Capture and Storage, is vital to achieving #decarbonisation in Europe. The objective was to learn about the upcoming opportunities in the energy systems of the future. They generated valuable contacts for potential projects related to grid/transmission-stations and Carbon-Capture plants. The fair was remarkable, the market dynamic is impressive and certainly supported by a refreshing spirit of optimism from all stakeholders. Concurrent with the trade show, Germany declares green light for the development of a Germany-wide hydrogen core network. What an inspirational 2-days we had at Carbon Capture Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg. Here are a few highlights... Catching up with Walter Giacopini of Giammarco-Vetrocoke who specialise in HPC for #co2capture in process streams and for emissions reduction. They have several innovative processes to minimise energy consumption. Also some flow sheets that re-use waste heat and can be fully electrified. And, they are a worldwide leader in re-vamping older CO2 capture units to improve their #energyefficiency and sustainability. Learning about the end-to-end flue gas treatment EPC services offered by K2-CO2 which integrates #co2 capture, waste heat recovery and pollutant gas emissions reduction technologies. Chatting with Hugo Lucas of REVCOO - a French cryogenic CO2 capture technology startup. Their process uses liquid #nitrogen to capture and liquefy CO2 in one unit operation. Talking with Brett Andrews of MTR Carbon Capture to understand the unique aspects of their membrane system which can be deployed pre and post CO2 liquefaction to maximise CO2 capture rates and minimise power consumption. Digging into the equipment design that GEA Group is proposing for amine-based CO2 capture. Their idea is to use engineering plastics for the CO2 absorber tower unit to reduce CAPEX. To ensure structural stability, the stronger stainless steel CO2 stripper / amine regeneration tower supports the two sections of the absorber, which sit at either side. An innovative approach to leverage the properties of each material to its fullest potential.

A new aim to achieve net-zero financed emissions by 2050 and mobilize USD 1 trillion in sustainable finance by 2030, has been set by Morgan Stanley. In order to achieve this goal, the financial services institution has made a new partnership with Climeworks with the intention of securing a sizable volume of carbon removal credits. Doing this would mark a significant step forwards for the company, as they would be purchasing their first Direct Air Capture credits. Last week, the ELAFLEX UK team attended the Hydrogen Technology Expo Europe and Carbon Capture Technology Expo Europe in Hamburg, coincidentally home to Elaflex’s headquarters and joined fellow Elaflex colleagues in two busy days of conversations. The event, which continues to grow, displays state of the art #H2 technology and is set to be even bigger next year, paving the way for the future of this increasingly important sector. Exhibitors came from around the globe, reflecting the international scope of the event. Elaflex is playing its part role in this transformation, bringing over 100 years of experience to bring innovation and quality-engineered products to the industry. We provide both individual components and bespoke systems, including our pneumatic nozzle with hose assembly, specifically designed for refuelling trucks with liquefied or subcooled hydrogen. Elaflex, in partnership with MannTek, has developed a nozzle and receptacle you might have seen used by a well-known truck manufacturer, with options for both manual and semi-automatic operation. In addition to land logistics, we offer systems for marine and aviation applications. Our approach always considers the full refuelling or loading process from the operator’s perspective, delivering practical, user-friendly solutions. Our engineers are known for their ability to think outside the box to create effective solutions delivered in a box. We displayed a wide range of state-of-the-art products at the expo, including technical hoses for low-pressure applications, rubber bellows, and heavy-duty nozzles for 350 bar and 700 bar. With our interface, it’s possible to refuel up to 100kg of hydrogen in less than 10 minutes! Complementing this are our trailer manifold valves, ball valves, and quick couplings, designed for high-flow rates that surpass traditional systems. We also featured specialty hoses for handling ammonia (NH3) as a #hydrogen carrier, and composite hoses for cryogenic separation. The exhibition gave us two hectic yet rewarding days, filled with valuable insights and opportunities to engage with customers. If you couldn’t attend this year, we encourage you to visit next time.
