The use of pellets in pharmaceutical formulations has gained immense popularity due to their multiple benefits, including enhanced bioavailability, improved stability, controlled release, and the potential for combination therapies with possibly incompatible compounds. Extrusion-spheronization is the technique of choice for producing these pellets. Our NICA extruder excels in this process, enabling you to handle even the most sensitive products with ease. Designed for low-temperature, low-shear extrusion, it ensures reproducible product density, making it an ideal choice for high-quality pellet production. It operates efficiently in both batch and continuous modes, and with negligible product hold-up, it maximizes your yield. Discover how the NICA extruder can transform your production capabilities. Members of Stäubli’s expert sales team recently paid a visit to GEA Lyophil’s facility in Hürth, Germany, with their mobile demo van. A globally recognized partner to the pharmaceutical industry with decades of experience, STÄUBLI Robotics supplies specially developed Stericlean robots for use in aseptic environments. The purpose of the visit was to provide onsite training and a detailed overview of their robot portfolio, its safety aspects and control and software options. “We’ve already successfully commissioned several of Stäubli’s robots,” says Jörg Küpper, “which has enabled us to expand our product portfolio and optimize the automatic loading and unloading of our freeze dryers.” “For our customers, automation offers error-free product handling. Nests are used to prevent vials from falling over, avoid glass-to-glass contact and increase the processing speed in larger systems to up to 1000 vials per minute,” Johannes Selch adds. The visit and training marks the start of an even closer partnership for the two companies. And, looking to take a deeper dive into pharmaceutical applications and process intensification, there’s more to come in the future. Watch this space. https://go.gea/3kc Tobias Resch Uwe Distler
