When It Is Perfectly Acceptable to Change the Difficulty to "Easy"

So, I'm making my way through the Undercity, killing Rakghouls. Nothing particularly special.   And so I get to one corner which has a ton of them in it. And they start to overwhelm us (as Impossible Difficulty rakghouls will do if they get up close to you). So Mission beats a hasty retreat as I'm already down and Carth stupidly charges into a nest of them. And I'm left with just Mission up, having to kill the remaining rakghouls before I can do anything else.   Actually, my character revive

My Introduction. (Too long for a forum post, so I'm making it a blog post)

I'm not new here, I've been a member here for a little over a year now, and did a LOT of browsing before then.   I only made an account to send a PM to FairStrides about KSE, never knew I'd actually get involved in it's development. To make matters worse, I know NOTHING of modding KotOR and very, very little about Perl. Not one of my strongest languages, but I'm learning. I just...eh, it's such an ugly language. Makes me feel like I'm working with Objective-C again, and it gives me nightmares.

Breaking Kotor Balance, Not quite as smart as I thought

So after downloading K1 and TSL difficulty Option 1.0 And setting the difficulty on "Horror" I've come to realize it might be a bit impossible.   Oh and because that wasn't hard enough, I used the Kotor Saved Editor, latest edition, to make my character 100% soldier without any force powers! So that means no force heal, no op force lightning, no Insanity, and no FORCE IMMUNITY.   I've got to rely on mines, explosive ordnance, my wits, companions, armor, upgraded blasters, manipulating LOS

Wrist-mounted flamethrower

I’m trying a few new things, ‘new’ as in things I haven’t tried before, because let’s be real, giving Mandalore a flamethrower, somebody must have come up with this idea before. This is what I came up with, I moved the handconjure dummy to make the the flame spray beam originate from the wrist instead of the hand. Then I had to add some sort of gun nozzle, and I meant for it to come out of Mandalore’s vambrace, but I still haven’t found a way to make it look good. I’d rather avoid adding meshes

How do you go about overriding area walkmesh files   One day I decided Atton really ought to take a seat, specifically on the Administration Level as he operates the console. Normally he would stand, and a convenient camera angle would make it look like his hands were on the console. Why do that when everything looks like he's meant to seat down, there's even his favorite chair from the Ebon Hawk. Underrated Game shattering Mod

Ever felt Kotor 1 was just too easy? You know the 3rd, 4th, or 14th time through?   You might have even felt a bit, just a little bit, like a cheater. I mean come on! We need mods that equip our heroes with Unique looking and OP items. This is necessary, no fault here.   Yet, I couldn't shake the cheeky feeling of cheating. ... SO I checked our wonderful Deadlystream.com SITE! And found this underrated, beautiful tapestry of a Mod.

BioWare's GFF files are simply... uhh... perplexing.   I had... quite an interesting time trying to grasp my head around the ideas.   So this post is kind-of a self-note for me.   So, we have "Structs". 2DA Parser Works!!

Just an update on my project to create new modder tool:   The .2da file parser works! Yaaay!   This is the commit where the file parser works.   Tonight (22:51 at my place as I typed this blog entry) I'm going to work on the .dlg parser. Especially because for unknown reasons KotOR Tools refuse to parse any .dlg files I have.

SWiKe ToolSuite

So, as a challenge to my programming skill -- and in great desire of a better way to integrate mods -- I've started a project called "SWiKe ToolSuite".   Haven't had enough time to actually develop the ToolSuite this week, but starting this weekend I'm going to pour forth some real effort.   At the very least, thanks to the information kindly shared in this thread , I have managed to create a decoder of .2da files, yay!   When I'm no longer embarrassed of the code's quality, I promise I'

Review: Early M4-78 Mod

First off, welcome to my new blog! Not sure how much I'll actually be posting here, but that's not the point.   One of the most prominent KOTOR2 mods there is the the M4-78 enhancement project, and I can't imagine that anybody who's looked into these mods at all hasn't heard about it.
