We are going to Korea (again) ✈️ 🇰🇷 🥳 We are happy to announce that we have been selected for two programs, both supporting international companies with a special interest in the South Korean market. First of all, a big thanks to the organizations behind the programs (KISED (Korea Institute of Startup & Entrepreneurship Development), PEN Ventures, and Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Republic of Korea) for acknowledging our mission. Not only is this a huge external confirmation of the benefits of the product we are developing, the support from the programs will also help us to gain a better understanding of the South Korean market and expanding our network. Our CEO Mikkel Precht and CSO Mads Emil Mikkelsen, will be in Seoul from November 30th to December 13th 🗓️ . Feel free to reach out, if you or anyone you know might be relevant to connect with. Around 30% of the South Korean population are intolerant to alcohol (i.e. ALDH2 deficiency). When consuming alcohol, they experience immediate symptoms such as facial flushing, headache, nausea. They also have an even higher risk of developing multiple alcohol-related diseases (e.g. cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's) compared to people without alcohol intolerance. Our mission is to transform social-drinking events into a less harmful and more inclusive experience. The Alcolase® supplement, will reduce the effects of alcohol on the body, thereby allowing people with alcohol intolerance to enjoy moderate amounts of alcohol when participating in social-drinking events, without having to worry about their health.

In July of 2023, Niels Holst from Heyfunding introduced us to the amazing team at Antler 🤝 After meeting their team, we were all convinced they were the partners we needed to take Alcolase ApS to the next level 🚀 Fast forward to today and we have gone from being a “student” startup backed entirely by soft funding to being a venture-backed startup with further support from amazing Jesper Lomborg Manigoff and Christian (Chris) Bach ⏩ A lot has happened since last year and we would love to tell you all about it. Ignited by a recent post from Torsten Kolind we decided to work ON our business and not just in the business. Therefore our co-founder team went on a 9-hour roadtrip to visit our research partner in Netherlands 🚗 🛣️ The main reason for choosing Netherlands as the destination is due to our collaboration with GECCO Biotech. When doing cutting-edge development within a small biotech company collaboration is needed. The people at Gecco are experts within enzyme engineering, hence valuable to us to boost our product performance 🚀 Meeting them in person made discussion much easier than at online meetings, and it was great to see their facilities to better understand how they work. He showed us their brand new and very impressive building for molecular biotech and chemistry 🧬🥼Marco’s great insights into enzyme engineering was indeed the highlight but the building would have been worth a visit itself. An unforeseen bonus of the trip: 2 x 9 hours together with your co-founders in a car gives great time for personal connection and interesting discussions 👏🏻

🎉 Our Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) is returning from Korea to Denmark! 🛫 The last 3.5 months, he has been participating in the K-Startup Grand Challenge Program, where 60 companies were competing. And... We made it to the top 20!!! 🌟 We are very honoured to be in a field with such skilled entrepreneurs and their amazing start-ups (see picture below) from all over the world. 🌍 As our beachhead market is Korea, it was crucial for us to have our CSO in Korea to establish relations with companies and other stakeholders in terms of future production, distribution, marketing, and more. Also, we needed to verify our many assumptions about the Korean market and explore further possibilities in Korea. 🤝 We learned that Korea indeed is ready for our product! Now we need to do our best to get it to the market as fast as possible.
