Topping-out ceremony for FOSS Vinge, a huge milestone for our new production facility!    We celebrated all the workers and this big step in the construction of FOSS Vinge, our largest-ever investment project. What began as a vision has now taken shape, and the progress is spectacular!    With this new 18,000 square meter production facility in Frederikssund, Denmark, we are not just building for the present but for the future. Designed to house 350 employees, FOSS Vinge will stand as a beacon of sustainable and innovative manufacturing.     FOSS Vinge will be DGNB certified and powered by renewable energy, including solar panels and a wind turbine. It will also feature advanced systems for energy-efficient heating, cooling, and water reuse, making it a key part of our commitment to sustainability.🌱 Our employees can move into this amazing new building at the beginning of 2026.

We're excited to have hosted another inspiring #ScienceDay at FOSS!   At FOSS Innovation Center, we welcomed 85 students where they experienced nitrogen explosions, chemical clouds, automated robots, and laser reactions 💥🧪🌈.     A memorable day showcasing how fun and important working with #Science, #Technology, #Engineering, and #Mathematics (#STEM) can be. STEM is the backbone of innovation and progress in our world. It is the desire to ask questions, explore, and understand the world around us, which is what we do every single day.     At FOSS, our teams are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible, driven by a thirst for knowledge and a curiosity to explore the unknown. Whether through hands-on experiments or by sharing the inspirational stories of #STEM pioneers, we have the power to ignite the passions of the upcoming generation of scientists, engineers, and innovators.     Thanks to all our engaged colleagues who prepared today's science show and workshops and to all students, teachers and schools supporting.     We hope today has inspired the young people here and sparked the curiosity for a career in STEM.

This week we are celebrating a dairy market like no other: India has the world's largest dairy herd with over 300 million bovines, 96 million milk producers, producing over 220 million tons of milk. It’s the world’s top producing and consuming country when it comes to milk, and the market continues to grow. FOSS is a big part of that growth, and we are proud to be part of the dairy industry's journey towards innovation, sustainability, and improved nutrition. At the heart of India's dairy industry are 450,000 milk collection centers, most of which are still unorganized. Our MilkoScreen™ solution, with its portability, ease of use, and ability to deliver fast, accurate results, is perfectly suited for these rural collection points. It ensures that farmers — many of whom deliver milk in small 5-10-liter batches twice a day — receive fair and transparent payments directly to their bank accounts. We’re thrilled to celebrate a major milestone — 10,000 MilkoScreens sold since it was launched 10 years ago. FOSS celebrates milestones in Japan and South Korea. This month marks a major celebration at FOSS as we reflect on 50 years of trusted partnerships in Japan and 30 years in South Korea. Over the decades, we’ve collaborated closely with leading companies, driving innovation and excellence in food and agriculture. Both countries were among the first three FOSS subsidiaries established outside of Europe. It was a pleasure to hear leading customers in the two countries honor our respected collaboration and contribution to their industries. In Japan, we’ve pioneered solutions in milk, grain, and meat analysis, empowering producers to advance quality and safety. In South Korea, we’ve played a key role in supporting sustainable practices and meeting the growing demand for food safety. We are honored to celebrate these partnerships and look forward to continuing our journey of innovation, empowering our customers for the decades to come. Together, we can shape the future of food and agriculture. 

Celebrating the 68th anniversary of FOSS all around the world. Since July 2nd, 1956, FOSS has been at the forefront of revolutionizing the way we analyze, measure, and understand the world of food around us. Over the past six decades, FOSS has evolved into an innovative house of expertise, offering a diverse range of products, services and software to food and agribusinesses. Let’s congratulate the entire FOSS team — past and present — for their unwavering dedication, creativity, and vision all over the world. The commitment to pushing boundaries and finding innovative solutions has played a pivotal role in being first, shaping industries and improving lives. FOSS are now one year older, and what have we achieved in the past year? Look at the timeline and see some of the things we have accomplished in the past year. A regular day at the office ended with a really great event: The FOSS Run. The FOSS Run is more than just a race; it’s an annual tradition that brings our FOSS colleagues in Denmark together in a spectacular setting around Frederiksborg Castle. As traditioned for more than 10 years, I had the pleasure of standing at the starting line, with the flag in my hand, ready to send all the enthusiastic runners off. This year’s event was as always filled with competition, laughter, encouragement, and a shared sense of achievement. I believe that activities like these are an important part of building a strong and connected team, and it welcomes everyone, whether they prefer running long distances, short sprints, or simply enjoying a walk with colleagues. Around 150 FOSS colleagues wore specially designed running t-shirts and had a great afternoon. Well done, everyone, I’m so proud of you – already looking forward to it again next year!

Today, our 2023 result is out! We're announcing a record-breaking year of innovation at FOSS: In 2023, we launched five new products. These included the new software platform from FOSS Software Services, IQX™, and the gamechanger Micral™, dramatically speeding up the test capacity of element analysis. Highlights from the report: ◾ 570 MDKK in operating profit, ensuring massive future investments. ◾ 4% organic growth, particularly driven by the sales of new solutions launched in the last three years. ◾ High growth in Latin America and China. With innovation deeply rooted in our company DNA, FOSS is dedicated to investing above industry average in research and development. #InternationalWomensDay – time to reflect and act! In 2023, 32% of all our employees were women, and among new hires, women made up 34%, which is pretty good in our STEM field of work. In comparison, 33% of all EU students finishing a STEM education are women, which makes the recruitment base smaller. We acknowledge that we're not there yet. That's why we're actively contributing to the change by committed participation in Science Day (previously known as Girls Day in Science), setting specific targets to enhance gender balance, and continually focusing on recruitment practices, leadership development programs, bias training for managers, and implementing appropriate policies to promote inclusivity. Last year, our female employees rated their satisfaction with FOSS as a workplace higher than our male employees in our internal Employee Engagement Survey. We also introduced ‘employee lunches’, where all women were invited for a lunch conversation with our CEO, Kim Vejlby Hansen, and our SVP, HR, Michael Almer. We have been in business for almost 68 years – and we are committed to making change all around the world – starting with setting gender goals and implementing relevant collaborations with educational institutions and organizations. As we celebrate #InternationalWomensDay, we are proud to articulate our commitment to taking concrete actions towards fostering gender diversity and inclusion in STEM, but there's still a lot of work to be done. At FOSS, there have always been talented women. They are doing an incredible job, and we would love to have more talented employees and co-workers like them.

Unlocking the mysteries of Mars with LIBS technology. It is not often that we think of analytical technology outside the confines of an industrial setting or streamlined laboratory on our own planet. But in the case of Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) known from the groundbreaking FOSS Micral™ analyzer, we are talking about a method that has been tried and tested on Mars since 2012. In this article we talk to PhD Jens Frydenvang from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen, who has been using LIBS to study the geology of Mars in collaboration with NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration since 2012.
