Today is World Anatomy Day 🌏 What often isn't front of mind to a layman when thinking about pathology is the study and practice of anatomy - even though it plays a vital role in our society. Anatomy is a cornerstone of medicine. Within, it's learnings impact a plethora of disciplines - and the most evident of these is perhaps the study of clinical surgery. Regardless, schools of anatomy endeavouring to teach and demonstrate the intricacies of the human form face a unique challenge. It is imperative that the next generation of surgeons learn from and train with the human body if they are to be proficient in their field, yet doing so poses many ethical and legal obstacles. Universities are tasked with the immense responsibility of finding donors, fostering trust with their families and handling these 'silent teachers' in a humane manner. On World Anatomy Day we honour all those who have donated their bodies to science, and those who contribute to this vital component of medicine. HealthRFID is investing in modern technologies to help schools of anatomy deliver body donation programs and honour their donors. You can learn how by contacting us @ https://lnkd.in/gMJ3Rw6i #worldanatomyday #anatomicalpathology #anatomy #clinicalanatomy #bodydonation #bodydonationprogram #anatomicalgift #willedbodydonation #organdonation

Today is World Patient Safety Day. "World Patient Safety Day calls for global solidarity and concerted action by all countries and international partners to improve patient safety," the World Health Organization (WHO) states. "The Day brings together patients, families, caregivers, communities, health workers, health care leaders, and policy-makers to show their commitment to patient safety." An area of patient safety HealthRFID focuses on is eliminating wrong blood in tube (WBIT). WBIT occurs when blood sampling and transfusion protocols are not correctly adhered to, which can have fatal outcomes. Between 2000 and 2019, 80 reported deaths in the USA resulted from ABO-incompatible RBC transfusions, an outcome of WBIT. Busy ED environments, with their chaotic nature, are especially vulnerable to administration errors that increase the risk of WBIT. Common failures resulting in WBIT are: - Out-dated techniques for blood sampling, - Incorrect labeling, - Loss of correct labels or; - Failure to check patient identification carefully before transfusion Interestingly, one study found that 15% of transfusion failures were due to multiple errors not detected at the bedside. That's why HealthRFID has developed an intuitive platform that addresses all these common failures. Using BedsideControl, every patient receiving a blood sample or transfusion receives an electronic label validation and a three-factor identity check. So far, hospitals using BedsideControl have experienced a reduction in labeling errors by 96.5%. BedsideControl is HealthRFID's commitment to better patient safety and a better patient experience.
