🚀Denmark's first automated plastics sorting facility opens in Esbjerg Did you know that ReSource Denmark has recently launched Denmark's first-ever highly advanced and automated plastics sorting facility in Esbjerg? Owned by Norwegian pyrolysis specialist Quantafuel (part of the British company Viridor) and the French infrastructure fund Eurazeo, this state-of-the-art facility is set to revolutionise the way Danish municipal plastic waste is managed, significantly reducing reliance on incineration and the need for export to other European facilities. ♻️ The facility has the capacity to sort 160,000 tons of waste annually. It’s designed to provide full traceability from waste collection to the end product, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout the entire process. Currently, around 85% of Denmark’s plastic waste is either incinerated or exported. However, by 2030, the Danish government aims to reduce the amount of incinerated plastic waste by 80%. ReSource Denmark plays a crucial role in enabling Denmark to achieve this ambitious target. Last week, Invest in Denmark and Invest in Esbjerg took a closer look at the exciting investment opportunities emerging in Denmark’s circular economy and recycling sectors. While this field is rapidly evolving with new technologies and business models still being refined, the potential for investment is vast — both upstream and downstream in the plastics recycling value chain and beyond. One strategic approach to maximise these opportunities is to bundle value chain activities within close proximity. This can help regionalise infrastructure, reduce distribution costs and lead times, and foster the development of specialised know-how. The next step for Esbjerg could involve the establishment of a mechanical or chemical recycling plant—or even both—to further process the sorted waste. A big thank you to Lars Hedegaard Kristensen and Niels Holm Ø. for an insightful tour of your state-of-the-art facility! 📞Reach out to our experts Björn Snorri Gudmundsson Bøg or Charlotte Melchiorsen to learn more about your opportunities to play a part in Denmark’s ambitious target. #PlasticsRecycling #Circularity #MaterialResource #SustainableInnovation #CircularEconomy #GreenInvestment #WasteManagement #RecyclingRevolution

🛡️ Defence and Dual-Use: Spotlight on DALO Industry Days 2024 in Denmark From 21-22 August, Denmark became the global hub for the defence industry during DALO Days, where industry leaders gathered to discuss how to speed up acquisition and production. This annual event highlighted the importance of agility in today’s defence landscape, particularly in light of the ongoing situation in Ukraine 🇺🇦. Denmark, recognised as the country supporting Ukraine the most per capita, reaffirmed its long-term commitment, which was a recurring theme throughout the event. The geopolitical focus on defence is stronger than ever, reflected by the event’s growth in size and the active participation of NATO’s newest members, Sweden and Finland. Once again, we welcomed a large German delegation alongside major exhibitors such as HENSOLDT, Rheinmetall, KNDS Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, ESG Elektroniksystem- und Logistik-GmbH and NVL B.V. & Co. KG. Their presence underscores the significance of Denmark as a key player in the defence sector. While defence may not touch our daily lives, it remains a vital part of homeland security—whether it’s cyber security or on-the-ground operations. Denmark offers a strategic location for companies in the dual-use sector, bridging the gap between private and defence industries. Curious to learn more about the opportunities in Denmark's defence and dual-use sectors? Reach out to our experts Mia Munck Bruns, Keld Juulsgaard, or Loui Halse (ハルセ・ルイ) for free, confidential, and tailor-made solutions.
