Owner and founder of RICHPiX - Spatial Imagery | Technical Photography | Reality Capture and Cultural and Industrial Heritage Inspection, Conservation and Documentation | Image Management
So Ive been playing ( and working ) with a #PhaseOne XT for last couple of weeks. I may be in love.... So.... Six minutes to capture this pile of shiny, translucent mosaic tiles, all less than cm max if you are interested. Three minutes to optimise the images, and make it look perky.. (real). It's the mid tones that make it look real - not just recovering details in the shadows Five minutes to align, mesh and texture. This is at #3FlowZephyr default setting - I haven't tagged any specific cameras for texturing which would be the next step. From just 27 images... it didn't like 5 of them for some reason.. Less is often more. I always chuckle when I hear people saying they take hundreds, If you know what you are doing then you actually spend less time on site and less time processing. I like my time to be mine. The XT has no autofocus, image stabilisation, or eye tracking. It has no video, no sound, no slow mo, no gizmos and apps. Apart from three killer tools no other camera has.. watch this space and the urban shots that make people and traffic vanish without AI interference. Its magic!!! It just has the best sensor in the world IMHO, for dynamic range and colour management... i But for me they key is it makes you slow down- makes you think about the craft of #spatialimagery ( Its isn't just about pressing a few buttons or sliders) It brings out the artisan rather than just running around firing off as many images as you can. It makes you think about light and colour, about accuracy and realism. Not how many million points you can scan in a day. The 'reality' in #Realitycapture is not just about 'slam'ification, 'dronery' or LiDARadiation or a 360 camera on your hat - it's about RICHPIXELS. Understanding your camera- It's about photography as such as survey control BTW Anyone who registers for any of my workshops gets a whole bunch of my RAW Test images and model data to play with. Off to play some more and do the research for you.

Meet Christopher Barcelona, our Technical Support Engineer based in Denver, USA. His daily responsibilities include conducting flight tests, installing and training customers on PAS systems and resolving customer issues. Chris, tell us shortly about yourself and how your typical day at work looks like? Being born into the aerial acquisition world, this is my first time being on the other side of coin. I have been operating airborne cameras and sensors most of my life, so being on the support side of things is a great change. As a support engineer and flight test manager, no two days are ever alike. One day I can be in the Colorado office building flight plans for execution, flying tests and supporting our customers by helping them stay airborne and the next I can be off in some far corner of the world assisting our amazing Phase One customers get their new PAS system installed and flight tested. In your role as a Technical Support Engineer, what do you believe is the most critical aspect of ensuring customer satisfaction? To me the most important aspect as a Technical Support Engineer is keeping our customers happy and in production. Time on the ground is money wasted so we do everything in our ability to troubleshoot customers issues quickly to get them where they need to be to make money, in the air! Customer satisfaction in my opinion is the number one priority. We work with complex technology, sometimes issues can be frustrating. We work together with our teams to resolve these issues all while keeping a smile on our face to ensure our customers feel good at the end of the day. What's one accomplishment in your role that you are particularly proud of, and how did it contribute to the overall success of the team? I am very proud of what we have been able to accomplish here in Colorado to put together our flight test department. We took on this task with open arms and with the help of our colleagues we have been able to put together a successful department to not only fulfil the needs of our Phase One colleagues but be able to utilize this department to troubleshoot complex issues for our customers in real time. Since starting in December, we have been able to provide over 50 successful test flights not only helping the progression of our products but also helping our customers stay productive. Can you share some of your interests or activities outside of work? While I am not helping our amazing Phase One customers, I enjoy spending time with my wife Jessa and our two beautiful pups Lou Anne and Waylon. I am a huge Harley Davidson motorcycle collector and my free time usually includes time in the garage working on my motorcycles. Currently I am in the process of building a 1979 Harley Shovelhead chopper. Outside of that you can always find me with my close friends, having a beer or two by the grill or finding some sort of body of water to jump in. #PhaseOne #career

I recently had the opportunity to take part in an architectural workshop by Capture Integration and architectural photographer Barry Grossman. This was set at Serenbe, just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. This marks the Fourth occasion where we've supported such workshops at Serenbe. Barry shared his expertise and revealed the artistry behind capturing breathtaking images of both interiors and exteriors. His skillful techniques, honed over years of experience, left a lasting impression on the attendees. The workshop provided an exceptional hands-on experience, as participants had the privilege of using the Phase One XT IQ4 150 system to craft their own stunning architectural images. One of the standout highlights of the workshop was the opportunity to work closely with Barry himself. His creative insights was informative to those in attendance. #digitalphotography #stunningimagery #phaseOne #event #photography #architecturephotography #architecturalphotography#architecturalphotographer interiors #workshop
