Halloween is fast approaching, and many are gearing up for trick-or-treating. But what happens at a hybrid power plant on this eerie night? If the sun is shining, the solar PV plant harnesses its energy during the day. The golden yellows and rich browns of autumn create a warm, stunning backdrop as the leaves gently drift to the ground. As night falls, the atmosphere shifts. Darkness sets in, bats emerge, and strong winds will likely stir. This is when the wind turbines shift into high gear, generating the most power. So, Halloween night might be the scariest night of the year, but at a renewable power plant not so much. Quite the opposite. A hybrid power plant utilizes natural energy sources both day and night, capturing the energy from the sun and wind most efficiently. A great solution to put some pace into the green energy transition, don’t you think? #hybridpowerplant #renewables #wind #solar

On Valentine’s Day, we wrote a love letter to the sun. But today, on "I Care About You Day,” we want to express our deep gratitude and commitment to our planet, Mother Earth. At SCADA International, we understand that caring for our planet is not just a duty – it’s an honor and a profound responsibility. We recognize our planet’s boundless generosity and the beauty it brings to our lives. Because to take care of our planet, Mother Earth is giving us just what we need. 1. Renewable energy sources: The sun, wind, and water offer abundant and sustainable energy. 2. Forests: Trees and plants absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, helping to regulate the atmosphere and combat climate change. 3. Natural water cycles: Earth’s water systems, including rivers, lakes, and oceans, are crucial in regulating climate and weather patterns. 4. Soil: Healthy soils act as carbon sinks and support agriculture. 5. Biodiversity: Diverse ecosystems contribute to a balanced environment and provide resources like medicinal plants and resilient crops. In return, we pledge to nurture and protect our planet with the same care it bestows upon us. Thank you, Mother Earth, for all that you give us! We really care about you. #ICareAboutYouDay #MotherEarth #Sustainability

Are you curious about how SCADA systems are transforming the renewable energy sector? We have just what you are looking for. Our latest Energy Explained podcast episode dives into the essentials of SCADA systems and their pivotal role in advancing renewable energy projects. After more than 10 episodes, we finally dive into SCADA systems. And we do so with the help of our guest Martin Olesen, Director for Service & Resources here at SCADA International, who tells us all about: - The fundamentals of SCADA systems - How they optimize the management and monitoring of renewable assets - Trends for the future of SCADA systems in renewables. Whether you’re new to SCADA or looking to deepen your understanding, this episode will give you valuable insights into what SCADA systems are all about. Did you know that we are just about to release the latest update of our energy management system called OneView®? Several times a year, our Technology team sends out new releases to ensure that our customers have a #SCADA system that keeps up with the needs of the industry. This time, the launch includes two new modules that give customers even more tools to decrease downtime of their assets, reducing risk and, thus, optimizing performance. But more about that in another post. Because how you update a system depends, first and foremost, on the needs of the user. And with the accelerating speed of new developments and innovation we see these years, who is to tell what is most important when it comes to #EMS solutions? And that is why we are asking you. Give your thoughts in the poll below. #Energymanagement #renewablepower

At SCADA International, we are proud to have some of the greatest industry experts as our colleagues. And we are even more excited when they share their knowledge with the rest of the world! That’s precisely what Andreas Nitsch did at the WindEnergy Hamburg Speaker’s Slot a few weeks ago. Under the title “How to utilize the grid connection more efficiently through overplanting,” our colleague delved deeper into solving grid constraints by utilizing existing substations or overplanting. What is the path to follow, according to our experts? 1. Leverage hybridization to utilize capacity to its fullest 2. Optimize hybrid plant control for full potential 3. Design hybrid plants with grid compliance in mind We hope those who had a chance to come by left with a clearer view of how to tackle the challenge of grid constraints. If you have questions about maximizing the potential of your renewable power plant or are planning to go hybrid, we can help you with that! #OurSCADATeam #Renewables

Do you imagine using your first mobile phone to this day? We asked this question last month when we attended the WindEnergy Hamburg fair. And the wide answer was no, because we couldn’t use the apps and features we want with those old phones. The same happens with old SCADA systems in renewable power plants. Because if the OT system you are managing is part of the 22-year-old original power plant, the data it delivers will likely not meet the current requirements and standards. Read more about why OT data is gaining importance in the renewable energy industry here: https://lnkd.in/ddXfWEht #renewables #oldphonevsnewphone #retrofitting

On August 28th, 2024, our Danish colleague Jens Due and his family brought 6 suitcases to Copenhagen Airport, their destination Chicago O’Hare – one-way. “When we arrived at our new house it only took 10 minutes before our neighbors came to welcome us. It was truly overwhelming, and we are so grateful for the warmth we’ve experienced. We now look forward to the exciting new chapter ahead of us.” says Jens Due. But why did Jens and his family relocate now? The purpose was to add additional grid competencies to our competence center in North America and support our US clients even better, by expanding our already skilled US team. That’s because, at SCADA International, we experience a rapidly growing demand for conducting grid studies on new plants. There is also a growing interest in revisiting grid studies performed years ago on existing projects due to an increased focus from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) on model accuracy, among other things. We can support both, and thanks to our extensive track record from the North American and European markets, we can help with PowerFactory, PSCAD, PSS/E, and TSAT simulations for the onshore and offshore markets. We’re excited to be closer to our clients and have extra capacity to tackle the growing demand for grid studies! #Gridstudies #USgrid #renewables

As the effects of climate change become more visible, feelings of uncertainty and worry about the future can impact our mental well-being. That’s why, on #WorldMentalHealthDay, we want to address a growing challenge many face: climate anxiety. Because, yes, we need to take care of our planet, but we also need to take care of ourselves. It may be a bit tough to do so, though, because the psychology of climate change is complex. The collective nature of climate anxiety makes it harder to tackle because we feel things are out of our hands. At the same time, do you feel guilty for not doing enough? Like your ideals don’t match your actions? That has a name: cognitive dissonance. Psychologist Simon Elsborg Nygaard talked with our Energy Explained host Kasia Kandulski Lindegaard and dived deep into the topic. Starting from that and on to the power of combining both negative and positive communication around climate change Simon Nygaard discusses how we can turn our anxious feelings into action and empowerment. If you can understand Danish, listen to the episode and find out! https://lnkd.in/ejWFPqft #WorldMentalHealthDay #ClimateAnxiety #EnergyExplained
