The workshops for the 150-kilometer high-speed railway connecting Touggourt to Hassi Messaoud are progressing rapidly, supporting train speeds of up to 220 km/h. This project features three stations for passengers and cargo in Touggourt, Hassi Messaoud New City, and the Hassi Messaoud Oil Hub, with an additional stop in Hassi Messaoud. This railway line is set to enhance transportation services and drive economic and social development across the region.

As part of his continued inspection of sector projects in the southwest region, Mr. Lakhdar Rekhroukh, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures, accompanied by Mr. Mohamed Habib Zahana, Minister of Transport, visited the city of Bechar, where construction work is ongoing on the first section of the Western Mining Railway, which connects Bechar to Hammaguir over a span of 200 kilometers. At one of the project's key construction sites, the ministers, together with the Secretary General of the Province of Béchar and local authorities, assessed the progress made in various segments of this important section. Subsequently, the ministers and their delegation attended a briefing on the status of the Bechar-Tindouf-Ghara Djebilet railway line, which covers a distance of 950 kilometers. Both ministers expressed their satisfaction with the pace of the project and emphasized the capacity of public enterprises to expedite the construction process to meet the contractual deadlines. During his remarks, the Minister of Transport commended the work’s progress and encouraged continued efforts to accelerate the pace of implementation. He underscored the strategic importance of completing this railway, which is expected to deliver significant benefits to the local population and contribute to the national economy.

During a recent inspection in the Naama governorate, Minister of Public Works and Basic Infrastructures Mr. Lakhdar Rakhrukh, alongside Transport Minister Mr. Mohamed Habib Zahana and local authorities, visited Ain Safra train station after arriving from Mechria. They received a comprehensive update on the expedited rehabilitation of the railway line's infrastructure. The delegation then traveled by train to a technical facility that suffered significant flood damage, witnessing firsthand the swift reconstruction efforts. This visit reflects our commitment to fulfilling the President's directive to restore the railway line and ensure its timely operation.
