On November 7th, BLRT Grupp’s shipyard Turku Repair Yard celebrates an important milestone — its 35th anniversary! Turku Repair Yard Ltd, also known as Turun Korjaustelakka Oy (BLRT REPAIR YARDS), was established in 1989 following the bankruptcy of Wärtsilä Marine. The ship repair yard has long been regarded as a strategically vital site for ship docking and repairs. Until 2004, Turku Repair Yard operated on the premises of the former Wärtsilä shipyard in the heart of Turku. However, in 2004, the company relocated to Naantali to expand its production and technological capabilities. So, despite its name, Turku Repair Yard is now situated in Naantali, approximately 9 miles from Turku. A pivotal milestone for Turku Repair Yard was becoming a subsidiary of the BLRT Grupp holding in 2007. We extend our warmest congratulations to our colleagues at Turku Repair Yard on their anniversary. We wish you continued success and determination to achieve your goals, overcoming any challenges along the way.   #TurkuRepairYard #BLRTGrupp #shiprepairyard #birthday #development #drydock #Turku #Naantali #Finland #Estonia

We are pleased to welcome the distinguished U.S. research vessel R/V Marcus G. Langseth to BLRT Grupp’s Western Shiprepair yard. Named after renowned geophysicist Marcus G. Langseth, this vessel plays a crucial role in marine science, operated by the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory. The 235-foot Langseth is equipped with advanced seismic survey technology, allowing it to capture high-resolution images of geological structures deep within the Earth’s crust, crucial for studying tectonic processes and marine geology. The team at Western Shiprepair, part of BLRT REPAIR YARDS, is proud to contribute their expertise to readying this remarkable vessel for future research missions. From hull and deck maintenance to work on rudder systems, bow thrusters, and piping renewal, they are ensuring the Langseth is prepared for its essential work. With every expedition, the R/V Marcus G. Langseth advances our understanding of Earth’s dynamic processes, providing invaluable data that brings us closer to comprehending the planet we call home. #BLRTGrupp #BRY #vessel #shiprepair #repair #research #marine #MarineResearch #OceanExploration #WesternShiprepair #ScientificVessels #GlobalScience #Innovation #Engineering #FutureShips #MaritimeTechnology #WesternShipyardGroup #Klaipeda #MarineScience #DeepOceanExploration #US #Seismology #Shipbuilding #Oceanography

See below for the English version Riigilaevastiku auväärses eas jäämurdja Tarmo jõudis täna BLRT Gruppi ujuvdokki, et läbida siin korraline ülevaatus ja hooldus. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Tarmo, a State Fleet icebreaker of honourable age, arrived at the BLRT Grupp floating dock today for her scheduled inspection and maintenance. This will likely be her last visit to us, as the vessel, built in 1963, is expected to end her long and distinguished service in 2028. While Tarmo remains in satisfactory condition overall, maintaining her systems has grown increasingly challenging over time due to the difficulty of finding compatible spare parts. Many of her original parts and components, installed over 60 years ago, are simply no longer being manufactured. Tallinn Shipyard is delighted to have Tarmo back in its dock. Following her maintenance, Tarmo will be fully prepared to fulfil her duties and serve capably until her dignified retirement. The recent decision by the Estonian government to allocate €25 million to help shipowners retrofit their vessels with green technologies in Estonia marks an important step in enhancing the competitive power of the maritime sector and supporting the Green Transition. Understandably, we are very enthusiastic about this initiative as an industrial holding. However, in order to seize growth opportunities, increase export volumes, and implement green innovations, the Estonian industry needs, among other things, new highly-skilled professionals – namely, young specialists. Presently, universities are struggling to keep pace with the evolving needs of enterprises. However, collaboration between educational institutions and businesses, including workplace visits and offering internship opportunities, could provide significant benefits. A clear understanding of the sector and the demand for specialists required in the maritime industry should attract the attention of young people who are either choosing their future profession or considering retraining. One example of such collaboration is the visit paid on September 24th by fourth-year marine Engineering students from the TalTech Estonian Maritime Academy to BLRT Grupp to gain insight into challenges and potentials within the maritime industry. The students had an excellent opportunity to witness the maintenance and repair of the docked Leiger ferry and the construction of fish farming barges and the floating entertainment centre Oceaya in the new Marketex Marine’s workshops. They also had a chance to observe rescue equipment maintenance at Mereabi and visit BLRT Wärtsilä Estonia’s marine engine repair facilities. It is evident that the maritime industry can offer young people a wide range of exciting challenges and options for planning their future. Anyone still undecided about their career should consider the maritime sector for a future full of continuous professional development, constant change, and international cooperation.  #greentransition #retrofit #shiprepair #shipbuilding #shipconversion #greeninnovations #specialists #BLRTGrupp #MarketexMarine #TallinnShipyard #Mereabi #BLRTWärtsiläEstonia #Wärtsilä #maritimeindustry #EstonianMaritimeAcademy #Oceaya #highlyqualifiedprofessional #HQP #BLRTRepairYards #students #TalTech #BRY

On 17th September, as part of Maritime Month, organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Climate, BLRT Grupp opened its doors to introduce our extensive range of operations and innovative projects. Guests had the opportunity to explore the day-to-day work of our industrial group, ranging from shipbuilding and repair to the fabrication of cutting-edge equipment and structures for the offshore industry. The day started with an engaging presentation and discussion, where attendees were provided with a detailed overview of BLRT Grupp’s various fields of activity, ongoing projects, and international business operations. The participants, including both officials and entrepreneurs, gained insight into the innovative solutions we develop and implement daily. The fine weather allowed for an extended tour of the holding’s industrial site, where the visitors had the chance to see the new floating dock. Several large-scale projects also captured attention along the berths, like a fish farming barge under construction and the floating entertainment centre Oceaya, currently being built at the Marketex Marine assembly shop. Another stop was the new workshops of Marketex Offshore Constructions, a fabrication site for the Yggdrasil project subsea support modules that are essential for the successful operation of the oil and gas field in the North Sea. BLRT Grupp is proud of its contribution to the Estonian maritime economy, helping to enhance the domestic and international competitiveness and sustainability of the sector. We are confident that such Open Days help bring maritime issues closer to everyone. We extend our gratitude to all those who participated and helped make the day a memorable experience! #MinistryofClimate #BLRTGrupp #shipbuilding #repair #fabrication #offshore #industry #newfloatingdock #maritime #OpenDays #MerketexMarine #MarketexOffshoreConstructions

The keel-laying ceremony for Oceaya, the world’s first modular floating multi-purpose entertainment venue, took place September 12, 2024, at the Marketex Marine assembly shop in Tallinn, with representatives from Marketex Marine, MEYER Floating Solutions, Oceaya LLC, and the world’s largest classification society, DNV GL, taking center stage as key figures of the event.   In keeping with tradition, a metal plaque bearing the names of the commissioning company and the shipbuilders, decorated with coins representing the participating countries, was affixed to the first block of the platform. The event was marked by the ceremonial signing of a document commemorating the occasion and the next phase in the construction of the Oceaya platform.   The Oceaya floating platform, designed to be adjusted in shape and size to suit the needs of various events, can seamlessly relocate across the globe. This versatile venue will not only host a wide array of events but also support scientific research initiatives.   #BLRTGrupp #MarketexMarine #MEYER #Oceaya #DNV #keellaying #venue #Tallinn #Estonia #floating #platform

Elme Trans helped relocate two rhinoceroses to Tallinn Zoo. Our 130-ton crane and expert team assisted in lifting Binti and Elba, two elderly female rhinoceroses from a Czech safari park, to their new indoor enclosure, where vehicle access was not possible. Each rhinoceros weighs over one ton, and with the transport crates, each lift exceeded three tons! Tallinn Zoo praised the precision and professionalism of our crane operators. We are thrilled that animal lovers can now meet these long-awaited residents. A big thank you to Tallinn Zoo for the great collaboration, and we wish the rhinoceroses a smooth adjustment to their new home! #ElmeTrans #TallinnZoo #Rhinoceroses #Relocation #BLRTGrupp #BintiAndElba #Teamwork #CzechSafariPark #DvůrKrálové
