When COVID-19 hit Germany, the Lower Saxony state health office’s (NLGA) phone lines were overflooded with people hungry for information about this fast-spreading new disease. The health office received well over 1000 telephone inquiries a week, clogging the system. The health office decided they needed a futureproof system to prevent that from happening again and turned to Nortal for a solution. 🤖 We created a chat- and voicebot based on a database that is 100% curated by the health office, making the solution secure and futureproof. Now the citizens can call up the chatbot on the NLGA website, ask their questions, and receive an answer within seconds, for example, on specific diseases such as COVID-19 or measles or even recommendations on what to do in the case of head lice. For the European Union, a single digital gateway (SDG) could help companies save 11 billion euros, and relieve citizens of 885,000 hours of labor. Removing the unnecessary online barriers between people in different EU countries could ensure a genuine Single Market where the freedom of goods, services, capital, and people is fully ensured. Together with Estonia’s Information System Authority, Nortal has created a GovTech system that powers Estonia’s integration into the European single market by enabling information-sharing across 26 EU countries, all at different stages of digitalization, all with different backend systems. The system is flexible enough to allow nations and organizations to keep their own systems, choose their own technology, yet it creates a SDG layer which enables sharing.
