9 times out of 10, large projects don’t go to plan. And when projects go over budget or don't stay on schedule, it’s not just the financials that take a hit — scope, quality, and deliverables also suffer. On this week’s blog, project management expert James Elliot explains how to avoid project failure with a cost management plan. By combining cost budgeting with project planning, task management, and resource management, teams can deliver projects on budget — and on time. Link in comments 👇

Like any monumental shift in society, progression always comes with pushback. For employees, this came with the shift to remote work. Millions of us now work from home (or wherever we like), but employers are reluctant to mould their workplaces — physical or remote — into a more flexible environment. The pushback from the C-suite has been through the use of tech. These leaders are now weirdly comfortable with using surveillance software, location tracking, and screen monitoring to measure performance. Are we entering a new era of surveillance capitalism, where employers are collecting every shred of employee data in the name of “productivity”? 🤔 Read our thoughts in the latest volume of 🕝 𝗢𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸 👇

But... how did companies get to a place where they don't trust employees and want to use tools like keystroke logging and screen recordings? 🤔 In our recent blog, Elena Prokopets digs into the rise of surveillance software, the legalities around it, and how we can all fight productivity paranoia. 🗣️ 𝗔 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅™ New year… same workplace problems 😬 Thousands of companies are still trying to navigate non-traditional environments and find their way with remote or hybrid places. For leaders, the struggle to balance employee wellbeing without sacrificing productivity is tough. But these companies risk leaving money on the table in 2025. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅™ uncovered an overwhelming majority of C-suite leaders believe shifting their approach to productivity could increase revenue by up to 20%. Toggl’s Chief Revenue Officer Andrew Wray has a message to managers who want to improve team productivity this year: 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗯𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗱 — 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗿.

🗣️ 𝗔 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿’𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅™ 39% of the C-suite we surveyed for 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗴𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝗲𝘅™ admit they don’t believe employees work as well without oversight. Liviu Tanase, founder and CEO of ZeroBounce, isn’t one of them. He measures team productivity by setting goals for specific timeframes and evaluating whether they are met. When we asked him about using surveillance software, his answer was clear: using it for normal business operations — like marketing or support — would be 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝘆 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗮𝗿𝘆.
