Cairo, 09 March 2025: UNIDO - National Bank of Egypt (NBE) exchange letter of cooperation Thank you, Mrs. Soha El-Turky, Deputy CEO and Executive Board Member National Bank of Egypt (NBE). Honored and pleased to partner with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE), one of Egypt’s largest and oldest financial institutions. Together, we are supporting and driving inclusive (leaving no companies behind) and sustainable (green) industrial development in the country in the framework of the sustainable development goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 9. We have worked together for many years to advance climate and green finance. This partnership has benefitted Egyptian SMEs and industrial facilities in sustainable agri-food production, waste management, renewable energy, and energy efficiency. For example, in the framework of UNIDO - UNIDO Egypt (Rana Ghoneim - Riccardo Savigliano - Gihan Bayoumi) GEF-funded projects, UNIDO has provided financial assistance by establishing a revolving fund to promote the deployment and installation of solar water heaters in Egypt. The revolving fund was 4 million USD, and NBE contributed 2 million to its total amount. Then, this fund was handed over to the Ministry of Industry to serve the industrial and tourism sectors and local solar water heater manufacturers. In the framework of Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt النمو الأخضر الشامل فى مصر (IGGE - Jérôme Stucki - Annachiara Scandone - Adel Sabri), we have succeeded in promoting tools and solutions and delivering financial services coupled with non-financial assistance to SMEs in the green and circular economy in Upper Egypt, with excellent impacts on society, the economy, and the environment. Our joint commitment was formalized in June 2023 through the signing of the Joint Declaration, and we are pleased today to reaffirm our commitment to continuing our successful partnership. The Governments of Switzerland and Italy fund the IGGE project. We thank them for their generous support of the country and stand ready to provide United Nations Industrial technical assistance through the IGGE—Inclusive Green Growth in Egypt on green and circular financial and non-financial services focusing on SMEs. Once again, we are proud of our partnership with the National Bank of Egypt (NBE).

🇺🇳🇪🇬🇨🇭This was the final event of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Egypt. UNIDO and Egyptian Ministry of Industry organized the final event of the Global Eco-Industrial Parks Programme in Egypt (GEIP Egypt). 👏🏼The event highlighted the programme’s key outcomes, including the promotion and mainstreaming of the Eco-Industrial Parks (EIP) approach in policies, identifying opportunities for their establishment, and initiating implementation to balance industrial development with environmental preservation while creating new economic opportunities. The GEIPP-Egypt project is funded by the Switzerland SECO Economic Cooperation and Development and implemented by UNIDO in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry. It demonstrated the feasibility and benefits of eco-industrial parks in enhancing resource productivity and improving the economic, environmental, and social performance of industries. The project has been implemented in three industrial zones in Egypt: Orascom Industrial Park, Polaris Industrial Park, and the Robbiki Leather Cluster. Key stakeholders also included the General Authority for the Suez Canal Economic Zone, the Industrial Development Authority, and the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones. We are looking forward to continuing such great partnership with Switzerland and Egypt ! 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐭 𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 The European Union funded 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 Project participated in the Industrial and Manufacturing Conference and Exhibition (𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄) from 25 to 27 November 2024. The event was organized by the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI) at Al-Manara Center for International Conferences and Egypt Center for International Exhibitions in Cairo. Held annually under the esteemed patronage of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, 𝐈𝐌𝐂𝐄 serves as a key platform to address challenges in the #IndustrialSector, foster partnerships, and promote #SustainableEconomicDevelopment. 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 participated for the first time in this year’s edition, with the objective of engaging with stakeholders from government, the private sector, development partners, and NGOs, to introduce the project and raise awareness about how it aims to contribute to a stronger and more competitive Egyptian industrial sector through: Ø strengthening Egypt’s policy ecosystem and business environment, supporting public institutions and business development services. Ø enhancing #ValueChains and #Clusters to help Egypt fully benefit from trade opportunities and achieve long-term #EconomicGrowth. During the event, 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 ’s National Coordinator met with Dr. Khaled Abdel Halim, Governor of Qena, to explore cooperation opportunities under the 𝐓𝐈𝐆𝐀𝐑𝐀 project. The discussion centred on #Cluster and #SME development, with a focus on the results of the cluster mapping exercises and validation workshops conducted with national stakeholders. Dr. Abdel Halim highlighted the significance of cluster development as a key approach for #LocalDevelopment in Egypt. Through such engagements, TIGARA reaffirms its commitment to supporting Egypt’s industrial sector as a driver of #SustainableDevelopment. اليونيدو - وحدة الأوزون المصريه بروتوكول مونتريال نظم بروتوكول مونتريال بمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتنمية الصناعية ووحدة الأوزون الوطنية في مصر بنجاح ورشة عمل لتدريب المدربين تركز على أفضل الممارسات في صيانة مكيفات الهواء المنزلية. وسلطت هذه الورشة، التي أقيمت في الفترة من 19 إلى 21 نوفمبر 2024، الضوء على استخدام التقنيات المبتكرة لوسيط التبريد R-32 بالتعاون مع مصلحة الكفاية الإنتاجية والتدريب المهنى، خلال إطلاق مركز تدريب ما بعد البيع في شركة فريش وهو ما تم تطويره من خلال الشراكة بين منظمة الأمم المتحدة للتنمية الصناعية ووحدة الأوزون الوطنية كجزء من مبادرات المشاريع الجارية في مصر. وعلاوة على ذلك، في الفترة من 23 إلى 25 نوفمبر 2024، ينظم برنامج خطة التخلص التدريجي من المركبات الهيدروفلوروكربونية التابع لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتنمية الصناعية دورة تدريبية عن الممارسات الأساسية الأمنه لاستخدام وسيط التبريد R-32 بأمان وتم تدريب ما بعد البيع للمدربين في شركة ميراكو بالتعاون مع مصلحة الكفاية الإنتاجية والتدريب المهنى والذي يقام في مركز تدريب الاميرية. UNIDO – National Ozone Unit EGYPT Montreal Protocol Division UNIDO's HPMP and the National Ozone Unit (NOU) successfully organized a Training of Trainers (TOT) workshop on best practices in domestic air conditioning maintenance. Held from November 19 to 21, 2024, this workshop highlighted using innovative technologies and the R-32 refrigerant. The event, conducted in collaboration with PVTD, marked the exciting launch of the Fresh After-sales Training Center—a significant milestone developed through the partnership between UNIDO and the National Ozone Unit as part of ongoing project initiatives in Egypt. Furthermore, from November 23 to 25, 2024, UNIDO's HPMP hosted a Miraco after-sales TOT at the Staff Training Institute (STI) in Ameria, reinforcing our commitment to high-quality training. This session, also in partnership with PVTD, was led by a certified CSG trainer and emphasized essential practices for safely utilizing the flammable refrigerant R-32.
