Earlier this week, our team member Juan Vila was inducted into the America's Cup Hall of Fame, becoming the first Spaniard to receive this honor! With three America’s Cup titles and victories in both the Jules Verne Trophy and Volvo Ocean Race, Juan may be the most decorated Spanish sailor of all time, but you won’t hear him brag about it. After decades spent racing around the world, for the past two years Juan has been back home in the city where he grew up. As a Catalonia native, he was thrilled about the venue choice for the 37th America’s Cup, especially the chance to bring sailing to a Spanish audience. “It came as a surprise for me – obviously a very nice surprise! We gave it our all on the racetrack today.. Today we faced a rollercoaster of emotions in the pursuit of a spot in the Final Series at the Puig Women’s America's Cup. Starting the day in the top three of the leaderboard, one mistake and an unfortunate tiebreak ultimately dashed our hopes, denying a place in the semi-final. First WIN in the pocket 💪 Only one match was possible in today’s mild conditions, but our Women’s team made it count, navigating the tricky course to beat their opponents. In a groundbreaking moment for sailing, our Women’s team have taken to the waters of Barcelona as part of the inaugural Puig Women’s America's Cup 🔥 A mix of conditions delivered challenging and unpredictable racing in Barcelona, with powerful winds taking the AC40s over 40 knots. Early rivalries emerged as the team took a second and a third position in the first two races, at the end of the day finishing fourth in the rankings. The race begins for our Youth Team 💪 Extremely light conditions delayed racing, resulting in only two of the four planned races. Technical issues on the boat kept the crew from competing in the second race, with the remaining two races postponed to tomorrow morning. Coraline Jonet, Project Manager, Youth & Women’s Teams: “It was finally the first day of racing here in Barcelona.
