The Ocean Race is coming home! 🇳🇿 In 2027, #Auckland will once again host #TheOceanRace, marking the 12th New Zealand stopover and nearly 50 years of connection to the world's toughest offshore race. From legends who were there in the early days, like Sir Peter Blake and Grant Dalton to local heroes Peter Burling and Blair Tuke who raced into Auckland on our last visit in 2018, #NewZealand has been at the heart of this race’s history. 866 new reasons to explore, understand, and protect our ocean. 🌊 The The Nippon Foundation & Nekton Ocean Census has just unveiled 866 newly identified marine species which is a powerful reminder of how much remains unknown beneath the waters we race across. With 90% of marine life still undocumented, unlocking these mysteries is key to protecting biodiversity and building climate resilience. The #OceanCensus aims to identify 100,000 new species in the next decade because we can’t protect what we don’t know. As we prepare for the next edition of The Ocean Race Europe, we remain committed to protecting the ocean through our science and learning programmes (https://lnkd.in/dvsb_mnw), collecting vital data to support research and conservation. A fantastic start to another weekend at Allt för sjön in Stockholm! 🇸🇪 Thank you to everyone who joined us at Marina Scenen today for an engaging session led by Hanna Hellberg. 🙏 Our Race Chairman, Richard Brisius , shared exciting updates on the future of The Ocean Race: #TheOceanRaceEurope 2025, #TheOceanRaceAtlantic 2026, and the legendary #TheOceanRace 2027, alongside our ongoing commitment to ocean science through our Science Equipment and learning programme. We were also joined by special guests: ➖Antoine Auriol, onboard reporter (OBR) from the last edition on TEAM MALIZIA, who gave a thrilling behind-the-scenes look at life aboard an IMOCA. ➖Roger Nilson, a Swedish sailing legend with seven editions of the race under his belt, who shared invaluable insights into The Ocean Race’s rich history plus, he got a taste of #IMOCA racing with the PAPREC ARKÉA TEAM cockpit simulator! 🔥 A huge thank you to Hanna Hellberg Antoine Auriol, Roger Nilson, and everyone who came to see us today.
