Last year our Healthcare Innovation team was tasked with conducting a comprehensive #foresight study on the future of occupational #exoskeletons across Europe. Completed in the final stages of EXSKALLERATE, a project initiated and managed by Bax, the study examines the enablers, obstacles, and challenges for exoskeleton adoption across multiple sectors by 2030. 🚀 What’s the potential? The European exoskeleton market is set to grow from €500 million in 2022 to over €4 billion by 2030. This immense growth reflects the transformative power of wearable robotics to support an ageing workforce and reduce work-related musculoskeletal disorders (#MSDs), which account for billions of euros in lost productivity each year. The report outlines two possible future scenarios for exoskeleton adoption: 1️⃣ Business-as-usual: slow progress with limited benefits. 2️⃣ Intervention: accelerated innovation that makes exoskeletons more affordable and widely adopted, especially by SMEs. This could reduce MSD-related sick days by up to 25%, significantly improving workforce health. #Construction, #manufacturing, #logistics, #healthcare, and #agriculture—sectors with high physical strain—are expected to benefit the most from exoskeleton technology. 👉 Dive into the report here ➡ https://lnkd.in/etx2SnCB If you'd like to connect with our Healthcare Innovation team or learn more, feel free to send us a message through our LinkedIn page! Today is the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, a perfect moment to discuss how we can future-proof #homecare for Europe's senior population. The 2024 theme, "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide," underscores the need for better support systems. While strong family networks, active participation in care decisions, and improving #digitalliteracy are making a difference, socioeconomic factors still heavily influence access to care; highlighting the need to address disparities and ensure equitable support for all. As explained in a new insight by Bax Healthcare Innovation Consultant David Chadima, older adults with a desire to maintain their independence face many challenges—reduced mobility, isolation, and health limitations, compounded by living environments that often hinder safe autonomy. The ACE Homecare Interreg project, through a series of workshops, has uncovered key insights into addressing these challenges. By focusing on specific care recipient and caregiver needs, technology integration, and healthcare coordination, the project is driving meaningful change. It emphasises the importance of culturally appropriate, user-friendly technologies and coordinated support systems to enhance care for seniors. Read more on our website ➡ https://lnkd.in/eBhQHCSs Older individuals deserve high-quality care that respects their dignity and fosters their independence. It is our responsibility to advocate for a system that recognises and supports their needs, ensuring they receive the care they rightfully deserve.
