🏙 💰 What is the true cost of unhealthy urban environments? Our Healthy Cities. founders marta rofin serra and Sebastiaan van Herk, PhD explored this in Brussels at the European Week of Regions and Cities, where they presented the latest version of the Healthy Cities Generator. The freely available digital tool is designed to make it easy for urban planners, health professionals and policy makers to incorporate health factors into urban planning and urban factors into health policy. In this new edition, the tool goes beyond urban analysis, health priorities, and planning recommendations to calculate how much your urban plan could save on health each year. Created in collaboration with EIT Urban Mobility and University of Lisbon, the new tool will officially launch on the 30th of October, 2024. Curious to know more? Join our launch webinar! Today is the United Nations International Day of Older Persons, a perfect moment to discuss how we can future-proof #homecare for Europe's senior population. The 2024 theme, "Ageing with Dignity: The Importance of Strengthening Care and Support Systems for Older Persons Worldwide," underscores the need for better support systems. While strong family networks, active participation in care decisions, and improving #digitalliteracy are making a difference, socioeconomic factors still heavily influence access to care; highlighting the need to address disparities and ensure equitable support for all. As explained in a new insight by Bax Healthcare Innovation Consultant David Chadima, older adults with a desire to maintain their independence face many challenges—reduced mobility, isolation, and health limitations, compounded by living environments that often hinder safe autonomy. The ACE Homecare Interreg project, through a series of workshops, has uncovered key insights into addressing these challenges. By focusing on specific care recipient and caregiver needs, technology integration, and healthcare coordination, the project is driving meaningful change. It emphasises the importance of culturally appropriate, user-friendly technologies and coordinated support systems to enhance care for seniors. Read more on our website ➡ https://lnkd.in/eBhQHCSs Older individuals deserve high-quality care that respects their dignity and fosters their independence. It is our responsibility to advocate for a system that recognises and supports their needs, ensuring they receive the care they rightfully deserve.

As Europe drives towards a #zeroemission future, collaboration is key to overcoming challenges and ensuring the competitiveness and sustainability of the #automotive sector. The ZEvRA EU Project, led by Fraunhofer IWU and the Bax-powered ELCA European Lightweight Cluster Alliance (ELCA), is uniting manufacturers, research institutes, and policymakers to tackle challenges in #EVproduction—aiming for a #circulareconomy that minimises waste and maximises sustainability. ♻ With 28 partners across 11 countries, ZEvRA is paving the way for a more sustainable automotive industry by integrating circularity into every part of EV design and manufacturing. At Bax, our #AdvancedMaterials team is driving innovation by developing circular manufacturing strategies that extend the life of automotive components, reduce waste, and improve resource efficiency. 🇪🇺 🚗 Learn more about our work in the ZEvRA project and the future of sustainable EV production ➡ https://lnkd.in/e7KU_eY3

As decentralised #healthcare continues to reshape the landscape of patient care, the question is: How can we successfully scale #homecare solutions across Europe? 🇪🇺 This is exactly what David Chadima, innovation consultant at Bax, will explore at Frontiers Health in #Berlin on October 18th. Together with Annouck De Cat from LiCalab - Living & Care Lab, they will dive into 'Strategies for Successful Homecare Implementation in the EU,' drawing on insights from the ACE Homecare Interreg project. During the session, they’ll address the key challenges of governance, the role of innovation, and what it takes to build sustainable, patient-centric homecare systems across Europe. Join them in the Insights Hub at 15:50 on Friday, October 18th, for a deep dive into how to bring these solutions to scale. If you’re attending #FH24, get in touch with David to discuss how you can shape the future of healthcare innovation together. 🙌 Learn more about ACE here: https://lnkd.in/eKKVirfi 🗓 Details on the event: https://lnkd.in/eW-4H-fT #FrontiersHealth #EUHealth #HealthcareTransformation #DigitalHealth

Shared and rented goods are expected to account for 20% of the retail market in the next decade. How do cities prepare the infrastructure for this sharing revolution? Our #SharingEconomy team has worked with leading cities and sharing providers to build the Digital Kiosks Resource Hub – an open-access knowledge platform for everything related to the sharing economy and sharing stations, including smart lockers that are anticipated to play a central role in making sharing happen. The Resource Hub includes: 🌍 Market Overview: exploring the latest trends in sharing stations, key players, station models, and updates on deployment. 📚 Research Library: curating the latest research articles on the sharing economy and sharing stations. 📹 Media Hub: Watch videos featuring top sharing station providers and their international impact. The Hub is part of the Sharing team's ongoing work in developing alternatives to the all-consuming economy. They work with cities, housing associations, and sharing solution providers to plan and pilot sharing infrastructure in both private and public places. 🗣 “Shared mobility isn’t designed for everyone yet” Shared mobility services are used almost exclusively by young, able-bodied adults. But what about other groups with very different needs, including families with children, the elderly, and people with physical disabilities? Typically these groups are left behind in the design of mobility services, leading to services that aren't comfortable or practical for them to use. Through co-creation with reduced mobility users and piloting new solutions across Europe, the Shared Mobility for All initiative, supported by Bax, is working to change that. To mark European Mobility Week, the SMALL partnership has released an explainer video on the concept of inclusive shared mobility, and showing how they’re designing operating models and services for a more inclusive mobility transition in Europe. 🚗🔋 What happens to electric car batteries when they reach the end of their life? As EVs become more mainstream, this question is becoming increasingly important. Bax innovation consultant Maarten Buysse was recently interviewed by EIT Urban Mobility - Urban Mobility Explained (UMX), along with other members of the BatteReverse project, for a thought-provoking video on #batteryreverselogistics. The video explores how EV battery components can be recycled or repurposed, contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable future in #ElectricMobility. 📽️Watch the full version here ➡ https://lnkd.in/dZVbtjuk #CircularEconomy #BatteryCircularity #SustainableTech #InnovationInEnergy #EVbatteries #TechForGood
