Mary Macarthur dedicated her life to improving conditions for working women, forming the first all-female general trade union, The National Federation of Women Workers, in 1806. Macarthur was hailed as the “sun behind the storm” for the prominent part she played in women receiving the UK’s first minimum wage. Created in honour of the spirit of the suffragette movement, featuring the names of CANADA’s women workers.
