🗣️ Yesterday, we held the workshop "Elevating Infrastructure: AI and Aerial Robotics in Inspection and Maintenance" at the European Robotics Forum.
Organized by #CATEC and the euRobotics Aerial Robotics Thematic Group, in collaboration with Emad Ebeid from the Faculty of Engineering, University of Southern Denmark.
🤖 In this workshop, we explored how aerial robots can help societies by ensuring that aging infrastructures remain safe, accessible, and sustainable.
Four expert speakers offered their perspectives based on real-life examples and case studies from both academia and industry:
- Nicolaj Malle, Postdoc at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU).
- Prof. Anibal Ollero, Professor at the University of Seville and Scientific Director of CATEC.
- Antonio Alonso, Director of Innovation at ACCIONA and coordinator of the BEEYONDERS project, who outlined its main objectives.
- Øystein Skotheim, Scientific Director of ScoutDI.
🤝 At CATEC, we are working on several projects related to this topic, such as SIMAR for pipeline inspection in refineries, BEEYONDERS for digitalization in construction sites (buildings, tunnels, and roads), and NATURE-DEMO to help implement nature-based solutions in civil infrastructure to improve its resilience to climate change.
Finally, today, we will also participate in another workshop, 'Application of robotics in efficient and sustainable construction and deconstruction'. Thanks for this invitation en #ERF2025! 👏
