🛩️ New Air Mobility flight prototypes via additive manufacturing! Prototyping is a typical use case for polymeric Additive Manufacturing; but in this case the prototype is a fully functional flying demonstrator. CITD Engineering & Technologies has been collaborating on the design, manufacturing, and testing of a 1:6 scale model of CRISALION's Integrity eVTOL, serving as a demonstrator for the full-scale aircraft. CiTD Additive Manufacturing used FFF technology to manufacture flaps and covers for the CRISALION scaled model. The addressed parts are challenging due to the small thickness and high slenderness that make difficult to comply with the tight tolerances for the assembly. After the development phase the parts have been successfully painted, assembled and tested within the prototype that has proved the concept feasibility under limited flight conditions.

🔍 Advances in the Manufacturing of Aluminum Alloys with DED-LB Technology 🔍   We are pleased to share the studies carried out on the process of various aluminum alloys, using infrared and blue lasers through the innovative DED-LB technology. These studies have allowed us to optimize the parameterization of these alloys, which represents a great progress in our manufacturing capacity.   Below I present some manufacturing tests of the AA5356 alloy in an inert atmosphere, carried out with a blue laser as part of the exciting ADELA project.   The Analysis of Manufacturability by Focused Energy Deposition of Aluminum Alloys (ADELA) project studies the technology of focused energy deposition by laser beam fed by metal filament (Direct Energy Deposition – Laser Beam / DED-LB) with the aim of producing large light components in aluminum alloys, as well as the parallel development of a specific simulation tool and intelligent monitoring of the proc   Grant ADELA (CPP2022-009946), funded by MICIU/AEI/ 10.13039/501100011033 and, as appropriate, by “ERDF A way of making Europe”, by “ERDF/EU”, by the “European Union” or by the “European Union NextGenerationEU/PRTR”. 🌐 The H2APS project (Autonomous Drone with Hydrogen System) is alredy demostrators manufacturing phase. The parts are part of the support structure of the engines and their corresponding reducers to ensure the correct operation of the propellers. They are manufactured in additive manufacturing polymeric and metallic advanced materials with our Renishaw and AON3D machines. El proyecto H2APS (Dron autónomo con sistema de hidrógeno) en fase de fabricación de los demostradores. En colaboración con los compañeros de @CiTDAeropolis, las primeras piezas fabricadas con tecnología aditiva están disponibles. El uso de la tecnología AM (Additive Manufacturing) permite nos permiten obtener fácilmente geometrías que optimicen el diseño y junto con la utilización de materiales metálicos y poliméricos de última generación, reducir el peso de la estructura de soporte del ala y motores, cuya masa juega un factor primordial en la altitud que pueda alcanzar la aeronave. Las piezas mostradas a continuación forman parte de la estructura de soporte de los motores y sus correspondientes reductoras para asegurar el correcto funcionamiento de las hélices. Proyecto PTAP-20221013 (Dron autónomo con sistema de hidrógeno) financiando por el CDTI Innovación - Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico y la Innovación y la los fondos #NextGeneration EU de la Unión Europea.
