The European Solar Telescope project is progressing through a significant review phase.🔭🌞👏🏻 International experts are evaluating the optics and adaptive optics preliminary design of EST👉🏻 The feasibility of the optics manufacturing schedule, the selection and implementation of engineering budgets, the stability of the AO image, and the influence of vibrations are some of the key aspects under review. These jets extend to several thousands of kilometers and move at hundreds of km/s. When viewed from the side away from disk center and at high spatial resolution, Ellerman bombs are flame-like structures that stick out vertically from the inter granular lanes. The image shows the evolution of an Ellerman bomb. The small subfield contains the most prominent Ellerman bomb. There, the gas moves downwards into subsurface layers.  The two images show the continuum intensity at 617.3 recorded by the instrument 4 minutes apart (so that the evolution can be observed). ☀️ Magnetic bright points represent features with intense magnetic fields. Above active regions there are long, horizontal fibrils that connect sunspots or plage of opposity polarity. We can also see dynamic fibrils, which are shorter, more vertical and much more dynamical.   🔁 📹 This movie shows a spectral scan of the quiet Sun across the H-alpha line. Positions in the far line wings sample the photosphere. These dots and light bridges in the umbra and penumbra reveal smaller convection signs, observed at high spatial resolution as bright spots in the dark umbra.   👉🏻 The figure displays, from top to bottom, continuum intensity images, velocity maps from spectral profiles, and net circular polarisation maps showing magnetic field and velocity gradients along the line of sight. The scene is dominated by dynamic fibrils rooted in the pores and the active region plage surrounding them. The image then transitions to the red wing of the Halpha line, progressively sampling lower atmospheric layers. At this wavelength, the movie reveals the existence of small and elongated, cool and dense blob-like structures that fall toward the solar surface from chromospheric heights.
