💡 Advancing Climate Adaptation in Urban Areas: Key Insights from 13 Global Cities We are happy to share a new BC3 - Basque Centre for Climate Change policy report from IMAGINE adaptation led by Amanda Marino, “Innovative Climate Adaptation Measurement Strategies in 13 Global Cities.” The report highlights how global cities are leading the way in developing effective MERL processes. Here are the 4 key takeaways: ➡ Moving Beyond Outputs: Cities are focusing on outcome-based adaptation indicators. ➡ Collaborative Governance: Regional and cross-departmental cooperation is crucial. ➡ Learning-by-Doing: Building “learning organisations” fosters a culture of continuous improvement. ➡ Community-Centric Approaches: Community engagement enriches and guides adaptation planning. Grateful for an incredible week of learning with the IMAGINE adaptation and particularly Ana Terra Amorim-Maia! We got incredible insights on climate adaptation theory and explored real-world urban initiatives like visiting the climate shelter at Museu Frederic Marès, the Refugi Climàtic Pati d'Escola - Escola Cervantes, and Jardins de la Torre de Les Aigües. Walking through Carrer de Consell de Cent to study the green corridors and the Superblock in Sant Antoni was a highlight for me, especially given my interest in the Superblock of Barcelona and green gentrification. This week, IMAGINE adaptation is excited to lead a course as part of the Master’s Degree in Urban Resilience for Sustainability Transitions at Universitat Internacional de Catalunya! From October 22-25, students are diving deep into urban climate adaptation and resilience under the guidance of Ana Terra Amorim-Maia, with online contributions from Marta Olazabal and Sean Goodwin. In just four days, students will explore climate adaptation theory, assess real-world urban initiatives, and develop key skills to evaluate adaptation strategies. A highlight of the course is a walking tour of Barcelona's climate-resilient infrastructure, including climate shelters 🏙️. ➡ https://lnkd.in/eNMfgNqE

On October 10, 2024, the IMAGINE adaptation developed our facilitation skills with an engaging, hands-on training led by Judith Castillo at FabrikaNCE! 🎓✨ We explored practical tools like the "Miracle Question" and "Scaling Question" 🔮📊 and learned how small actions can create big systemic shifts through systems thinking! 🌱⚙️ The session also covered the power of psychological safety 🛡️ and non-violent communication 🗣️—crucial for open dialogue and collaboration.
