How is Gemeente Helmond paving the way for the introduction of automated transport services through MOVE2CCAM? 🚐 Gain insights into the initial reactions of 90 citizens as they step into the world of automated vehicles. Through both physical demonstrations, from Automated Buses to shuttles and delivery vehicles and immersive virtual reality experiences, participants not only experienced a short trip inside automated vehicles but also learned about their functionalities and how they operate. Moreover, it was an opportunity to get the feedback of citizens on the virtual reality game, where participants virtually travelled in an automated bus or car in various conditions. MOVE2CCAM partners are collaborating to identify gaps and use cases to determine if/how these innovative forms of mobility could complement the public transport options and integrate the goods delivery systems. By embracing automated vehicles, Helmond aims to enhance the livability of the city and to acknowledge the impacts it can have on emissions, safety, and traffic flows. What should current and future CCAM Large-Scale Demonstrators consider to deliver the necessary impact? MOVE2CCAM and SINFONICA Project took over the plenary sessions of the CCAM Association Multicluster meeting in Brussels. Through our projects engagement activities results we were able to provide valuable insights to answer the above question from the perspective of citizens and stakeholders perceptions, feelings, and opinions about self-driving vehicles. Here are the main insights presented by our coordinator Héctor Cañas: - Safety concerns around AVs reduce significantly after onboard exposure. - Travel time is one of the main aspects prioritised by citizens when selecting their transport mode. - Willingness to buy an AV car increased 6 times after experiencing a ride. - 2/3 of participants will use an AV again if they had the opportunity. This week the CCAM Association was involved with the urban mobility stakeholders at the CIVITAS Initiative Forum in Parma. In the opening plenary, Françoise Guaspare, our Partnership Delegate for "local and regional authorities and transport authorities", underlined the need to give sustainable transport options to people living in peri-urban areas. She also referred to the necessary multi-level governance. On the second day, CCAM Association Head of Office, Marzena Jougounoux engaged in a discussion on synergies between EU programmes: CCAM, CIVITAS, 2Zero and Driving Urban Transitions Partnership.
