The OpenInnoTrain Project has been recognized as one of the top 130 initiatives contributing to the European Year of Skills - a significant achievement that underscores its global impact!! ⭐ 👏 🚀 🚆 - https://lnkd.in/ghchQ4CS The project facilitated ~400 months of staff mobility, enabling the exchange of expertise and experience across borders. It trained 150+ researchers and professionals across the global innovation and research ecosystem, representing 38 countries and all continents, through five summer schools focused on research impact. The training materials developed are now publicly accessible as a lasting resource (www.openinnotrain.eu/ - under the Summer School Menu). The project also established six collaborative research training agreements between its consortium partners and RMIT University, organized 40+ workshops and seminars, and resulted in one book and 50 publications (with 90% in Q1 Scimago/A/A* journals). The ripple effects of the project include successful funding applications, newly launched programs, and positive career trajectories for participants. Notably, OpenInnoTrain was awarded the ABDC 2023 Network Award for International Engagement. For personal stories and insights from those involved, visit our YouTube Channel to hear firsthand experiences and impacts from the project (https://lnkd.in/gJiCkx4w) None of this could have been possible without the initial vision and thought leadership from the OpenInnoTrain Chief Investigator and Academic Lead, Professor Anne-Laure Mention, Director, Global Business Innovation Enabling Impact Platform, RMIT University, with support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłowdowska-Curie (grant agreement no. 823971). The OpenInnoTrain Project has also been enabled and supported through an incredibly dedicated and committed Partner Consortium, underpinned by a passionate and hard-working support team from across Europe and Australia. We are all so very proud of what the project has, and continues to achieve! We are delighted to hear how OpenInnoTrain is continuing to create impact for our Secondees, Consotium Institutions - to our global community and people’s lives, beyond the life of the project! Heini Pensar (she/her) your secondment to RMIT University was only this year - and look what you have achieved as a result in such a short space of time! 🚀🚀🚀⭐️⭐️⭐️👏👏🌻🌻🌻
University Lecturer (PhD) and Program Manager for Masters program in Business Development, Workplace and Wellbeing Consultant
Today, we held what is believed to be Finland's first neuro-friendly university-level lecture. As an alternative to traditional mass lectures in the Basic Management Course, we offer small group study sessions using the Pomodoro technique in a sensory-friendly environment, incorporating various teaching methods. Today, a wonderful group of first year students gathered, and we had great discussions in a peaceful and intimate atmosphere. I am so happy about this opportunity. This was a great start. We said, only a short while ago at the time our project officially came to an end (30 June 2024) that whilst it was an ending, it was also the start of a new beginning of what is yet to come. A brilliant example from one of our treasured OpenInnoTrain alumni Dr. Heini Pensar (she/her) from the University of Vaasa, Finland. Her amazing secondment to RMIT University has been impactful to many and to both institutions in numerous ways! One of those ways for the University of Vaasa is the current piloting of a program well established at RMIT, and for RMIT, knowing this incredibly important program has been influential not only locally, but globally! The power of mobility in creating networks, exchanging knowledge, empowerment/encouragement, bringing us closer together as a unified global community to tackle important and complex problems together has never been as critical as it is in our current planetary ecosystem! We are facing exponential changes for which we must come together to solve! Please keep sharing about Vaasa’s Neurodivergent October Program Heini! And in part, stemming from a level of perfect timing and serendipity! ⭐️⭐️🌻🌻🚀🚀🎉🎉👏👏 The current Neurodiverse Study Sessions (an initiative by the Library Study Support, ELA, and RUSU) at RMIT University are running until 23 October - free to attend - https://lnkd.in/g9bXmBSt Anne-Laure Mention Èlia Vallejos Formatgé RMIT Europe European Research Executive Agency (REA)

Deja Vu. It all started when Kerry O'Connor saw an electronic sign (similar to this picture) on Swanston Street in the RMIT University lobby in Melbourne—it advertised neurodivergent study sessions. My Australian host professor Anne-Laure Mention and my supervisor Adam Smale in Finland, encouraged and urged me to pursue this calling. This week, we will hold Finland’s first neuro-friendly higher education lecture. Very excited, and thank you OpenInnoTrain and University of Vaasa making this kind of institutional benchmarking and knowledge transfer possible! ❤️ Rebekah Rousi thanks for introducing me to OpenInnoTrain!

Thank you for sharing your video Obakeng Jona - powerful storytelling about your involvement in the OpenInnoTrain Summer School, Tallinn, 2024! Your active and valuable contribution to the last of our project’s 5-day summer school programs helped to make it both a memorable and a transformative experience for your Team (the winning pitch team I might add 😉) and everyone else present. I think we will all agree - we left richer with our understanding of creating impact through research, but also because we learnt a great deal from each other. We left Tallinn with tool, techniques, tactics, as well as treasured friendships. We look forward to following where your career trajectory takes you Obakeng Jona !
Thrilled to have participated in the OpenInnoTrain Summer School on Impact, where we explored how research truly makes a difference when it leads to tangible societal change. The sessions highlighted the importance of translating academic findings into innovations that address real-world challenges, emphasising the need for cross-disciplinary collaboration and stakeholder engagement. I came away with a deeper understanding of how research can drive progress and create lasting impact, not only in the scientific community but in broader society. I’m excited to see how these learnings apply to my work!
