PROMETHEUS Horizon Europe project

In our recent work published in Nature Scientific Reports, we combine event based camera alongside Photonic Neuromorphic accelerators so as to classify particles in an imaging high-flow cytometry system. The proposed scheme merges the efficiency of neuromorphic sensors with neuromoprhic computing in critical biomedical application, unleashing a massive parameter reduction to the back-end neural network. Today George Sarantoglou presented the latest achievements of PROMETHEUS Horizon Europe project in short reach communications enabled by neuromorhpic photonic processing in the really interesting MENTOR EID symposium.

On March 14th, PROMETHEUS had its first periodic review meeting which was held remotely. All partners feel very satisfied with the positive outcome, verifying that the consortium has made a strong effort to meet all project objectives so far. Many thanks to our project officer Javier Mata Gómez and the two experts, Panagiotis Dimitrakis and Ariela Donval, for their fruitful remarks and suggestions. The second period of the project is by far more interesting and challenging as it will complete the fabrication of 1st and 2nd generation chips. The 4th meeting of the project took place on the 5th and 6th of March in Grenoble, at CEA-Leti premises. The partners discussed thoroughly all the critical issues of the project and have identified mitigation paths for circumventing technical issues. Joint experiments have been already completed and new are scheduled for the near future. The 1st generation programmable photonic devices are underway in order to start experimenting on neuromorphic and quantum computing tasks.
