A practical example of a #tender in the road freight sector. Have you handled similar cases? ⬇ The European textile market leader 👖 has invited more than 600 companies to its tender. Usually, these are the old suppliers, with only a few new ones who were persistent enough to submit bids. The rules are general, nothing extraordinary. The #supplier knows what the volume of each lane is because the tender holder provides this information:   ◾ 1000 lanes to quote.   ◾ There is a national and an international section.    ◾ Type of equipment, transit time, warning time.    ◾ If there are quotations or not.    ◾ If there is a pallet exchange or not. The #shippers are smart. They do the first round to choose the 2 or 3 best in each line among the 600 suppliers. But, before the second round, they will do interviews if they are unsure about the supplier. There may be a third round simply because shippers are greedy and need to ensure that they have squeezed a "lemon" 🍋 in eachlane. This is the standard procedure they have always done. At this point, we come to the final. The suppliers are chosen, the volume is awarded, and the backups and the backups of the backups are selected. But... this is not enough. How do you inspire and emotionally connect your team with the company’s mission? 💕 In general, all companies strive to build high-performing teams that help them achieve their goals in the least time and cost possible. Do we make decisions based on experience or solid data? 🤔👇 In #logistics, particularly in our field of road freight transport, many freight forwarders and carriers often provide answers or make key decisions based on their experience. The instinct or intuition developed by seasoned professionals is undeniably valuable 💡. In fact, this approach has worked on many occasions, but intuitive predictions always carry some degree of risk. On the other hand, data analytics allows for decisions based on hard evidence. Without a doubt, #data provides a more accurate picture and enables decision-making from a more complete perspective. 📊 In our industry, there is still some doubt: do we really need such 'sophisticated' tools or processes when things have worked well for us so far? Road freight #transport has, until now, remained somewhat untouched by the digital revolution that has already transformed logistics in sectors like retail and e-commerce. That said, in times of global uncertainty, when market cycles are becoming increasingly dynamic, data-driven decisions will inevitably replace experience-based ones. We know that many companies are aware of this and are taking steps towards using data analytics. Larger companies, in particular, find it easier to transition towards the #digitalisation of their operations. At Tennders, we have team members from Spain, Poland, Turkey... Being part of an international team is pretty cool, but it hasn't always been easy. In the Tennders team, different cultures coexist, and we work from different countries. This has given us the chance to enrich ourselves by sharing various perspectives and approaches. But it’s also true that we've had to overcome challenges to make it really work. We are a startup in the process of growth, and we do not have the resources of large multinational companies. So, what challenges have we faced, and how are we managing to overcome them? ➡ Maintaining a sense of belonging and effective communication are major challenges in any company. But when your team is spread across several countries, with different cultures and languages at play, it gets even more complicated. For Tennders, it was crucial to define and stick to a common language – English. To achieve this, we mainly hired people who were already fluent, but we've also supported those who needed to improve through language lessons and coaching. ➡ Building transparency and trust has also been a challenge. From day one, we’ve worked hard to make sure that, no matter who you are or where you come from, you feel safe to share your opinions, provide feedback, or ask any questions. In this respect, setting up communication channels and keeping them active has been incredibly helpful. While these tools are essential in today’s world, platforms like Slack, WhatsApp, and Teams have really made a difference for us. ➡ Building bonds between colleagues. We've organised online meetups and activities using the tools we all have at our disposal. And whenever we've had the chance, we’ve gathered the entire team in Barcelona for teambuilding activities. But more importantly, we've spent time together and created unique experiences as a team. ➡ The real challenge, however, lies in treating all of this as an ongoing effort. In a startup, where change happens fast, it’s crucial to maintain consistent efforts towards effective communication and team integration. For us, this is part of our everyday work.
