Absolutely thrilled to be invited as a speaker at the #VDS2024. 12.000 attendees from 100 countries and much better speakers such as Randi Zuckerberg, creator of Facebook Live, or Steve Chen, cofounder and former CTO of YouTube at the incomparable setting of City of Arts and Sciences on October 23rd at rainy #Valencia. (Someone told me in Valencia just rains 15 days a year, lucky me, I was three of them). I had the honor of representing hiberus and Xalok - Hiberus Media Labs at the roundtable on the role of #Data in media innovation with brilliant Julian Saad and the excellent moderation of Maria-Laura Albini. The #media is facing the biggest perfect storm: the challenge of monetization in the digital wild west, unequal competition in the battle for attention from other players who protect the spread of fake news, the uncertain rules of algorithms, and the overabundance of content in which artificial intelligence is breaking out with its threats but also with opportunities… In this fascinating landscape, information professionals have never had so much data to carry out their work. Let us take advantage of it, but with criteria and common sense, avoiding paralysis by analysis. We should go together with good technology partners to put data at the service of innovation in telling stories that must be truly useful to our communities and to the essential role that the media plays in democratic societies. I also had the opportunity to present the TEMS project (Trusted European Media Data Space), a joint initiative of 42 European media and technology organizations, including HENNEO, hiberus, and Alayans, to build a secure and trusted data space with the support of the European Commission Digital Program. My sincere thanks to the VDS organization and Startup Valencia for the invitation and the whole GELLIFY team. It was a pleasure meeting Herschell P., Bill Saad, Diego Fernandez, Miguel Angel Leal Gongora, Susana Garcés, Maria Ximena Rodriguez Duran, Anak Garcia, Giada Maggiali, Guy Turner, Natascha Turner, Elisabeth Valadez Saucedo, Juha Rytkönen, Fabio Bøndi, Gabriela Visintin Ochoa, Santander, Wayra, Fundación LAB Mediterráneo, Opentop_Hub, Google for Startups, LinkedIn, Microsoft I am especially grateful to Juan Carlos Fernández Cuesta, a great professional and a better Asturian. #VDS2024 #hiberus #mediainnovation #TEMS #DataSpaces #xalokhiberusmedialabs #Thingshappenhere
