Yellow es un estudio de diseño y audiovisuales con sede en Barcelona. Creado en 2011 por Konstantina Gavala, arquitecto y diseñadora multidisciplinaria, Yellow Studio alberga a un grupo de profesionales creativos que se extienden desde diseñadores gráficos y animadores hasta fotógrafos y especialistas de marketing.     There are ordinary projects, and then there are projects that truly excite! We were thrilled to be tasked with creating the Master poster for “Game Night” at #Diobar. As someone who's a product of Generation X, I have fond memories of growing up with arcade games, especially “Street Fighter” — the highlight of the first “Game Night”. So, this project was a delightful trip down memory lane for me. The concept was to design a background that resembles an 'arcade screen,' from which pixels appear to be 'falling.' These pixels cleverly incorporate the event's details. #posterdesign #designconcept

    This time of the year (and the few days off it usually brings along) is a great opportunity to reflect on challenges and achievements of the past, and, of course, to plan for the future. Here are some of Konstantina 's thoughts on the effect her first book (published in April 2023) had on her personal brand and professional life. "Deja Huella" means "Leave a Mark", and that is exactly what writing a book is about.

    As 2023 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on a year as challenging as it has been rewarding. The launch of my first book, “Deja Huella”* (co-authored with Vanessa), has been a cornerstone event. Writing a book is a transformative experience, one that extends far beyond the act of publishing. In my personal journey, authoring DH has been a gateway to numerous enriching experiences and achievements. ➡ Firstly, it opened doors to collaborations with some truly remarkable individuals and organizations (#BarcelonaActiva, #BizBarcelona, #Lidera, #Speakhers, #Visionarias, #Womenalia), significantly expanding my professional network and broadening my perspective. ➡ Writing a book is instantly establishing an individual as an expert, and in our case, that led to invitations for interviews in various mediums, including the TVE (Spain's National Television). ➡ Moreover, it has led to my return to tutoring, a fulfilling way to share the knowledge and experiences I've accumulated, especially those gained through the process of writing and publishing. ➡ Last but certainly not least, my work in editorial design and art direction, showcased through DH, has been recognized internationally by various design organizations. It has also marked the beginning of a series of accolades for other design projects I've been involved in, a testament to the hard work and creativity invested. To cap off this whirlwind year, I'm thrilled to announce that I've been invited to join the jury team at the Online Design Awards.—a role I am eagerly looking forward to as we usher in the new year.     Some initiatives begin as standard assignments but evolve into something far more captivating. Take, for instance, an e-book project from a few years back. Initially, the topic didn't particularly pique our interest, but as we delved into the creation process, it unfolded into a trove of intriguing content, ultimately ranking as one of our most cherished creative endeavours. This project serendipitously introduced us to the world of AI-generated imagery, propelling us into the vanguard of novel design techniques and expanding my creative horizons. #editorialdesign #aigeneratedimages #bookdesign

    Revisiting a favourite project from the past: The Identity Design for Event Horizon. The client: Event Horizon is an artist in residency opportunity and offers private creative space for the visual arts, music, literature, and ecology projects. A rural retreat for production and experimentation set in 20,000 Sq m (5 acres) of stunningly beautiful olive grove meadows close to the sea. The studio building is created from used shipping containers and is completely insulated. Julienne Dolphin Wilding, its founder and director, is well known for her large-scale furniture and site specific sculptures in National Parks. To avoid any pigeonholing, she describes herself as an environmental artist, and work within this framework is evident in her diverse portfolio. About the design: The logo is designed to align with the organization's moniker, subtly playing on the theme of boundaries and transitions within the sphere of artistic development. An “event horizon” is a threshold in spacetime, a limit after which events are beyond the influence of an external observer, a concept mirrored here in the realm of creativity. The design embraces minimalism and the strategic use of negative space. The absent “Os” in “HORIZON” are a deliberate nod to the notion of an event horizon, symbolizing a transformative juncture of no return, akin to the profound metamorphosis or pivotal breakthroughs in an artist's journey. These omissions are supplanted by simple green squares, which do more than fill a void; they visually echo the green shipping containers utilized as creative studios at the organization's site. The underlining of the word “event” is yet another representation, that of the linear form of a container, further tying the visual identity of the logo to the physical space inhabited by the artists. The typeface is modern and geometric, suitable for an audience interested in contemporary art. The colour palette is minimalist, utilizing a bold, confident green that resonates with the organization's use of green shipping containers, reflecting a commitment to sustainability and creative repurposing.
