Civic and Social Organizations

Empowering the most vulnerable women and children of Ethiopia.

About us

Shamida Ethiopia was established to support the work of Bright Vision. Bright Vision is a dream of one woman to create a loving protective environment for vulnerable destitute babies, children and women in Ethiopia. Our mission is to contribute towards the holistic development and self-sufficiency of women and children in difficult destitute circumstances. In Ethiopia social problems have been increasing at an alarming rate due to poverty, HIV/AIDS, various diseases, drought and conflict. Among other social problems the number of orphans and vulnerable children is increasing rapidly. Our organization was set up to give hope to the lives of these women and children through care, support and development programs and to give them relevance in life. Shamida Bright Vision is a non-profit Ethiopian NGO that is working hand in hand with other NGOs in Ethiopia such as the Hamlin Fistula Hospital to complement their efforts and advance our projects. Some of our current and future projects are: -Caring for orphans and finding permanent families -Reunification of street children with their families or guardians -Support for single mothers to enable them to care for their babies -Micro financing for single women headed households Your donations can go directly towards specific projects of your choosing or to a day to day running costs, which are kept to an absolute minimum. One of the dreamers, Karen Kendall, manages the day to day running of Shamida Bright Vision being based permanently in Ethiopia with her adopted Ethiopian daughter, Ruby.
