This week, we participated in the Energy 2024 exhibition, the largest energy event in Finland⚡️🇫🇮, that brings together brings together energy production, power transmission and storing, energy users, and decision-makers from environmental, circular economy, and real estate sectors under one roof. 🏢 The event showcased sustainable, smart, productive, and modern solutions for the energy transition. 🌍🔋 We had inspiring three days filled with engaging discussions on the energy transition, our Energy as a Service® partnership model and how we have supported our customers on their transition journeys! We also offered delicious samples of products from our customers, including Panda licorice and chocolate, Elovena snack bars and Valio juices. Our small product display attracted great interest from many visitors.  🍫🌾🥤 During the event, Adven's Juha Elo and Eveliina Paljärvi (she/her) presented on the topic “You don't know the true cost of your energy plant when making a decision!” 🎤 It was wonderful to meet so many customers, industry professionals and future energy talents 🌟 - thank you to everyone who visited us! [NEWS] We are so happy to announce that Adven and Nobian have signed a long-term partnership agreement in the Netherlands! ✍ 🙌   Nobian, European leader in salt, essential chemicals and storage caverns, will reduce the use of natural gas and lower CO2 emissions with 25,000 tons annually. 🌍 Adven has developed an energy solution that is the first of its kind in the world - and will now build, own and operate the new evaporation plant for caustic soda in Delfzijl. Through this, Nobian advances in electrification while also making the evaporation process 85% more energy efficient.    "We believe that systemic change is only possible by working together with our customers and partners. That is why we are so proud of this collaboration with Adven. By switching to electricity for this part of the process, we become less dependent on natural gas. This is a big step forward and supports our mission to be carbon neutral by 2040,” says Robert Jan Poppen, Nobian Delfzijl site manager. With this collaboration, Adven is continuing its expansion in the Netherlands. 🇳🇱   "In many Northern European countries, cooperation on energy transition is the rule rather than the exception. Nobian is leading the way in the Netherlands by making its core process more sustainable. Adven is fully responsible for design, construction, investment and operational management. 🌍 Celebrating World Energy Saving Day - today and every day! 🌍   Doubling energy efficiency this decade is crucial to keeping the goal of limiting global warming to 1.5°C within reach, while simultaneously addressing energy affordability, access, supply security, and climate goals. 🔍 According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), doubling the global rate of energy intensity improvement this decade is challenging, but not unprecedented. Turning this target into reality requires accelerated efforts and investments from governments and industries. Succeeding with the target could cut energy bills by a third and make up 50% of emissions reductions by 2030!   🔋What is energy efficiency? It’s about using energy smarter. It is about getting more output (like electricity or heat) with less energy input. Energy efficiency is called the “first fuel” in clean energy transitions, as it provides some of the quickest and most cost-effective CO2 mitigation options while lowering energy bills and strengthening energy security. 🤝 We as an energy partner help our customers save energy by 🔶 Making the most out of the energy they already have. 🔶 Selecting the right technology to capture excess heat from cooling processes, wastewater, flue gases, and ventilation air. 🔶 Creating local collaborations for utilizing excess heat. 🔶 Developing new and smart solutions that stand the test of time. Let us introduce Ville Tuominen, a seasoned energy industry expert, who joined our customer team this autumn as a Key Account Manager for industrial customers! Ville brings with him over 16 years of experience in the energy sector, where he has primarily focused on electricity retail and wholesale. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership roles, including Country Manager and Business Unit Director. Ville’s decision to join Adven was driven by his desire to expand his expertise beyond just electricity to comprehensive energy solutions. In his new role, Ville focuses on managing customer relationships and ensuring that everything is handled as outlined in the service agreements. A key part of his work is to understand the customers’ businesses, needs and challenges.   "I enjoy working closely with customers and I'm excited to understand and solve the challenges they face in their daily operations. Together with our customers, we can develop renewable and sustainable solutions that help them achieve their sustainability, financial, and operational goals. The energy transition requires everyone to pitch in. As renewable power capacity is building up, Prysmian in Pikkala ensures that energy can be delivered where it is needed. The company produces world-leading cables for both offshore and onshore wind farms.   As a result of over 35 years of collaboration with Adven and a transition to renewable bioenergy, the Pikkala factory became the first among Prysmian Group’s 100 facilities to achieve its zero-emissions target. 🎯 This new energy solution not only achieves zero emissions but also supports a circular economy as old cable reels are chopped up and reused as a fuel. ♻️   🗨 "Prysmian is systematically working towards ambitious climate targets in all countries we operate in and aims for scope 1 and 2 carbon neutrality by 2035. Group’s company in Finland stands out in this respect, as thanks to the measures we have taken, we are already very close to reaching this goal for the entire operations of the factory," says Jarmo Laine, HSE Manager at the Pikkala plant.   Soon, cables will be completed in Finland's tallest building! 🏢 Prysmian is investing in additional manufacturing capacity at Pikkala to meet rising global demand for high-voltage cables. The new 185-meter cable manufacturing tower, landmark on the Finnish seascape, also symbolizes rising energy demand. Large-scale investments in the factory require expanded energy production capacity. 🔋 As part of the ongoing collaboration, further energy infrastructure developments are underway. 🌍✨ Greetings from Impact Day 2024, the largest sustainability festival in the Baltics and Nordics, held in Tallinn last week! 🎤 Our Environmental and Quality Manager Merilin Kalmaru joined a panel discussion on “How to Implement Environmental Goals (ESG): Solutions and Collaboration,” alongside Kaidi Kaaret from Utilitas, Maris Pever from Tallinna Vesi, and moderated by Helen Sulg from the KIK (Environmental Investment Centre). 🌿 Together, the participants explored how companies like Adven are integrating environmental goals into their business strategies and collaborating to create real impact beyond ESG frameworks. 📌 Key takeaway from the discussion? 📊 ESG reports should reflect real achievements, not drive them.
