It was a memorable Friday evening in Helsinki as Prime Ministers Petteri Orpo and Denys Shmyhal came together for an important meeting. Our CEO Janne Harjunpää, arriving directly from Kyiv, had the honour of performing the Ukrainian national anthem, demonstrating the deep respect Finland holds for Ukraine’s people and future. 🇫🇮🇺🇦 During dinner, East Office and key Finnish business leaders discussed with the ministers how Finnish companies can contribute to Ukraine’s recovery, offering expertise in sustainable construction, energy resilience, and cutting-edge industrial innovations. ⚡️🔌 Connecting Finnish Expertise with Ukraine’s Energy Needs. Yesterday, we had a highly insightful discussion with Mykola Kolisnyk, Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine, together with Serhio Plyasov, Head of Konecranes Ukraine. Mr Kolisnyk shared valuable insights and advice on how Finnish companies can contribute to Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly in its recovery and sustainable development. 💡 The conversation reaffirmed the alignment between Finland’s expertise in energy efficiency and innovative solutions and Ukraine’s urgent energy needs. 🔨Day 2 at EuroBuildExpo 2024! Elematic, Peikko Group Corporation, Telko, and Konecranes have kept things busy both at our stands and on the stage, and it’s been great to see how much interest there’s been in what they’re offering - The Finns are taking charge! 🥳 For companies still debating whether to participate in Ukrainian fairs, Olga Laine from Peikko has a message: “Conversion is better in Ukraine. You’ll find more clients here than at similar fairs in Warsaw or other countries because Ukrainian businesses don’t always have the opportunity to travel abroad. To make the most of the fair, it’s important to do some preparatory work with potential customers beforehand. That way, the results will be even better.” Still plenty ahead before we head home, and as always, we’re making the most of our time in Kyiv. What happens when Finnish innovation meets Turkish expertise? Last week in Istanbul, we found out. 🌍🇫🇮🇹🇷 In partnership with TUID and the Embassy of Finland in Ankara, we brought together leading Finnish companies—Wärtsilä, AINS Group , Elematic, Peikko Group Corporation, Metso, and KONE—with over 20 Turkish firms to explore how we can collaborate in Ukraine, Central Asia, and the South Caucasus. 𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐓𝐮̈𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐲𝐞? Earlier this year, we identified the power of combining Finland’s technical expertise with the deep-rooted presence of Turkish contractors in Ukraine. Turkish companies are already playing a key role in Ukraine’s reconstruction, and by partnering with them, Finnish firms can tap into these opportunities more efficiently and strategically. More than just swapping business cards, this event was about creating strong, strategic partnerships with the potential to make a real difference. The excitement from all participants was clear, and we look forward to seeing these relationships grow into successful, impactful projects. 📜During the extended meeting of the Board of Directors of the CBU, which took place on May 21, 2024, the Regulations of the CBU "On Strategic Business Partnership" were approved. 🤝East Office of Finnish Industries Oy became the first strategic business partner of the CBU. Janne Harjunpää, CEO of the East Office of Finnish Industries, took part in an extended meeting of the CBU Board of Directors and presented the association's activities. 💬 "For us and our companies, russia does not exist. We support Ukraine. We fully, wholeheartedly support economic sanctions on russia, russian companies and the russian economy. It cost a lot for the Finnish economy, but Ukraine's values and human values are much more important to us. We understand what you are doing and why," Janne Harjunpää emphasized.
