Grafintec's vision is to deliver a Finnish graphite-based supply chain, that is sustainable, maximises resource conversion to final products, is low cost and delivers a strong economic value proposition to the country. To achieve this, Grafintec Oy, a 100% owned Finnish subsidiary of Beowulf Mining, is establishing a facility for processing graphite, with the final product primarily tailored for anode manufacturing. This product is technically referred to as coated spherical graphite, which increases a battery's competitiveness in terms of performance and cost. The facility, located in the GigaVaasa area in Korsholm municipality, Finland, will begin processing non-Chinese imported material with the aim to process Grafintec's own mined material in the future. The GigaVaasa area is an industrial zone focused on energy storage and battery technologies and therefore an ideal location for Grafintec's graphite processing and anode manufacturing hub. To ensure a secure and sustainable supply of natural and refined graphite, the EU's Critical Raw Materials Act sets a target that by 2030, 40 per cent of all processed graphite used within the Union is produced by the Union, and that 10 per cent of the graphite used is extracted from within the EU. Grafintec's strategy is aligned these targets, through the development of its processing facility at GigaVaasa, to subsequently extracting graphite from its own natural graphite projects Aitolampi and Rääpysjärvi. Grafintec's ambition is to refine and optimise state-of-the-art processes (spheronisation and thermal cleaning) for the conversion of natural flake graphite and secondary graphite resources e.g. recycled graphite into high quality battery grade anode materials. Being part of Business Finland funded battery consortiums like BATCircle 2.0 and BATTRACE, Grafintec will substantially contribute to development of a multi-billion € industry and create a supply chain for high value graphite that does not exist in Europe today.

#BEM is pleased to announce its unaudited financial results for the three months ended 31 March 2024 During the period, the capital raise, comprised of a rights issue of Swedish Depository Rights, a PrimaryBid retail offer, and a placing to certain UK investors, raised a total of SEK 56.3m, and will be used to fund the continued development of the Company’s projects. In Sweden, work continued at Kallak in preparation for the PFS and EIA, and Dmytro Siergieiev was appointed as Project Director. Additionally, in January, the Government made a statement emphasising its support for the project, stating that Kallak is of national interest. In Finland, subsidiary Grafintec Oy announced its strategy to fast track the full GAMP process to produce Coated Spherical Graphite. An enhanced PFS on the process is expected to conclude this year, and will be followed by a DFS, with production planned for 2027. In Kosovo, BEM announced the consolidation of 100% ownership of Vardar Minerals. Applications for new licences covering the original Mitrovica and Viti licences were submitted, and encouraging sampling results were reported at Shala and Viti, with further sampling planned.
